The Suns in 71 and 72 won 48 and 49 games and missed the playoffs both years (#4 in the league in net rating in 72, ouch).

The Suns in 71 and 72 won 48 and 49 games and missed the playoffs both years (#4 in the league in net rating in 72, ouch).
In 1972, the West had a 49 and 47 win team(s) miss the post-season while a 38 and 36 win team(s) made the playoffs in the East.
