How come Pau Gasol wasn’t voted to the NBA’s top 75 player of all time list ?

Post#1 » by Kingdibs19 » Fri Mar 31, 2023 5:57 pm

I remember Klay making a stink when he didn’t make it and everyone thought he was crazy. I always thought Dwight, Parker, Ginobili and Tmac were the biggest snubs. I always assumed Pau made it and just found out today he didn’t. I must have missed seeing his name mentioned as a snub. How does Dame Lillard make it over Pau? Makes no sense.

Pau tends to get horribly underrated on this board but I don't disagree with him not making it. Dwight not making it will always be the one that confuses me the most. I know his back injury severely impacted his effectiveness as a player but it's not like he turned into a scrub. He still managed a respectable career from that point on, and what we had before that was a 3x DPOY, all NBA player and the top center in the league who even managed to lead his team to the finals.

I have a hard time putting Pau ahead of Dwight Howard who clearly has superior accolades

I'd argue both Dame and AD are better individual players and have superior accolades

Only reason people might complain is due to him having 2 championships.

I agree Pau is insae underrated, it goes foot by foot with Kobe overrating. I liked both players, and yes, Kobe was better, but people don't give nearly enough credit at how 1B Pau was, he was OFTEN best player on the court on those teams, not saying overall, but OFTEN he was. But some fans act like Kobe's second supporting cast was a bunch of losers, Pau saved that teams legacy many times.

AD making the team was a joke. Dame also shouldn't have been on there.

Dwight is undoubtedly deserving to be there. Pau also has a good case.

Dwight is biggest ommision and prove that voters were just biased feel driven men. AD being there is indeed a joke.

VC should've made it over any of these guys. Just the sheer longevity, top 20 points & the cultural impact he had on the game should've made him a shoo-in.

Only Raptor fans (ones that don’t resent him) feel this way. Tmac has a much better case aside from longevity.

He wasn't voted to the NBA's top 75 players of all time because he's not a top 75 player of all time. /thread

I've never seen a great player more discredited by his peers and the media that covered him than Dwight Howard. But then again other than Kyrie, I've never seen another great player who has angered the fanbases of the teams he used to play for. Dwight managed to piss off Magic, Lakers, and Rockets fans.

Vince, TMac and Dwight were shocking to not see on the list. Agree about Anthony Davis and Dame stuck out on the list to me also.

AD has no business making it at this point of his career. Pau is easily a top 75 guy. He was a centerpiece for two titles, and completely transformed the Lakers.

Vince was a mediocre player even at his peak. Being the best dunker of all time has made people overrate the hell out of him as a player. He was always closer to the Richard Jefferson tier than he was to the Kobe or even Pierce tier.

AD definitely belong to the top 75 of paralympics history. In fact he is arguably the goat in that category.

VC isn't a top 75 all-time guy. C'mon. He had zero playoff success and was never even a top guy on a 50-win team. The biggest non-dunk moment of his career was losing in the second round in a historically weak Eastern Conference. The guy has very few notable moments after 2001 and he absolutely tanked the Magic and Suns before settling in as a solid role player.
