Damian Lilliard Impact

IF you could add Damian Lilliard to any team that failed to make the playoffs (assuming all free agents resign with their current team and ignore contract issues), would you then rank that team for next year as:

1. Contender (one of the teams with a legit chance of winning a ring if healthy)
2. Playoff team (including playin game, but not likely to advance much beyond the first round)
3. Still a mess (not likely to make the playin, even if healthy)

EAST : Pacers, Wizards, Magic, Hornets, Pistons
WEST: Mavs, Jazz, healthy Blazers, Rockets, Spurs

I imagine they’d get the clone on a rookie deal right? Would really help defray the cost of the original contract and the team would get a pretty great deal on Double Dame Dollas.

Dame on the Jazz would be pretty nasty.

I don't think he would upgrade any of these teams into a contender (as per "one of the teams with a legit chance of winning a ring if healthy"). That said, I think he would improve Orlando quite significantly. A great shooting PG and a competent distributor in Lillard would be nasty there, but I don't really see them getting past round two (maybe if you could make their core players three years older).

Also, Lillard and Beal would form a deadly offensive backcourt. The Wizards already have a bad defense so if you double down on offense and hope that the trio of Lillard, Beal, and Porzignis holds up, then you could see a solid squad.

The only team team with the talent to be upgraded to a contender would be the Mavs but Dame's not really a great fit(they need defense not offense)

Actually, the combination of Morris and Wright/Goodwin was very effective for the Wiz, it was Beal being out and weak forward play that sunk them. Lilliard is definitely an upgrade but yeah, I'd be shocked if it was enough to make them more than a 1 and out team.
