ROUND 1, GAME #5 Clippers @ SUNS—TUESDAY 7 PM TNT/Bally

Post#1 » by esqtvd » Mon Apr 24, 2023 8:21 pm

Clippers coach plays coy about Kawhi Leonard’s availability for Game 5

Clippers star Kawhi Leonard did not participate in practice Monday because he was receiving treatment on the sprained right knee that has sidelined him the last two games of the team’s first-round series against the Phoenix Suns, coach Tyronn Lue said.

Asked whether receiving treatment left open the door for a return in Tuesday’s Game 5 in Phoenix, Lue said that “there’s always a possibility.”

Phoenix leads the seven-game series 3-1.

Paul George, whose own right knee sprain has sidelined him since late March, was working out before practice Monday, driving and shooting in one-on-one drills against an assistant coach with more intensity than during a workout last week. There is no indication whether he will be available entering Tuesday’s potential elimination game, either.

I'll believe either of them are playing when I see them on the court during the game. Anyone believing the BS this franchise says about anything injury-related is just setting themselves up for disappointment.

PG looks pretty good and will probably give it a go, just so he won't miss out on two playoffs in a row. Wouldn't get my hopes up on him being very effective after so much time off, but still a nice upgrade over some other guys.

Kawhi seems in a much tougher spot. Can't see him coming back without even practicing, unless he gets the best sleep ever tonight and wakes up feeling like a new man. Just hope it's nothing serious, maybe only a similar issue to that early season setback.

I think we can all agree that at this point either one at 75% is better than Marcus or Batum. wth

The only way we come back and win this series is if Doc is coaching the Suns.

still a chance cause westbrook could go ultramegasupernova and mann/bones could have hero games but

unlikely, you know?

From a loving and supporting Clippers fan since Danny Manning days - this has been a disappoints season.

Can not be mad at the Suns - the games must be played regardless of injuries.

I am ready to accept another off season of false marketing and bull from the Clippers.

Can we trade back Paul George for SGA ? Give them more picks .. Trade Kawhi for a All Star big man.

Keep Plumlee , Gordon, Hyland , Mann and Zu for bench pieces.

Could have had Jimmy Butler for free but we didn't move quick enough and MIA wrapped him up quickly. Too obsessed with Kawhi but if we had Jimmy in the bag Kawhi would have come.

Kawhi outsmarted himself too by playing it cool and making the Clippers jump through hoops while he delayed meeting with us. We bumbled and stumbled into the 213 Era. It was never a plan.

We could have had Kawhi, Butler, AND SGA. Plus our draft picks, PLUS including that nice Miami one we got for Tobias.

Done with Kawhi. Load management and he still can’t play in the playoffs.

Damn, I LIKE Jimmy Butler. What a performance. That is my biggest bug about Ballmer. I don't think he made character a priority. Jimmy is a baller, and a winner.

I want to LIKE my team, dammit.

Again... anyone wanting to run it back with this core for another season is insane, as in the definition of insanity. This is how it's going to be every single year. There's never going to be one of those 2004 Pistons or 2011 Mavericks years where it all clicks because they'll never actually be on the court to make that happen. Just trade them already and move on.

Clippers need to do some serious soul searching this off season. The team needs a new coach and a new GM. But, do the Clippers continue with Leonard and George or do they start the rebuild. If they keep both they have to bring Westbrook back too and make a serious upgrade at power forward.

Also, why is Jasen Powell still our athletic trainer?

Going back to the Tokowitz days, he's been horrible, and yet, Ballmer is keeping him around.

I have absolutely nothing good to say about Jasen Powell, but I don't think he does much more than supervise the taping of ankles and make sure the water in the whirlpool is hot enough. And the beer is cold. The players seem to like him, so he stays.

Like everything Ballmer, you're looking at a yearly staff budget that would last Donald Sterling 10 years easy.

Fully what I expect. What Ballmer did after the Bubble. Found and dispatched some scapegoats and kept doing the same effing thing.

Book it. It's how he ran Microsoft too. Started out in first position and then Apple came up and ate his lunch. Leopards don't change their stripes.

Not surprised, over these two. Can not be counted on.

Best of luck to the ones who can actually play tomorrow.

Not sure on their value but we have to atleast look at potential trades for both. A win would be to atleast trade one of them for more durable players.
