Anyone else upset Biden's such a P*ssy and not using the 14th Amendment or the Trillion $ coin?

The trouble is that precedent matters. If he ignored power of the purse, then that opens the flood gates further. It would have probably have been wise to attempt it just to have the supreme court shoot it down just to make sure it can't happen for the other guys. But there are measured reasons to all of this that I am not privy to.

I know I went over the top here but this happens almost EVERY year now and when Harvard Constitutional Law Expert Lawrence Tribe and Cornell Const. Law expert Robert Hockett say it's good to go (using the 14th), I think Biden is a coward. The Dems could have avoided this in lame ducks session but................no! :banghead: I'm done with them except for a few like Katie Porter.

When the media gets tied up in ratings grabs over 'woke' topics it becomes less progressive and less effective. You know what hurts people of ethnic minorities (as well as others)? Lack of funding for crucial government programs... You know what would help raise all ships? More government jobs/spending. Rep's cut the post office to a) help private shipping business and b) screw the Dems mail in ballots. Gotta fight that. But certain members of the democratic party are too busy with complaining about niche social issues and the ole lady in Cali who just came back off of a medical issue.

The rules have changed. The gentleman's agreement that kept this country together since the end of the Civil War has been broken.

Republicans will gladly default on all of our debts, which is in violation of the constitution. They want chaos. There's no reason to negotiate with terrorists. The Blue states elected Biden to defend the Republic.

Biden needs to mint the coin, invoke the 14th ammendment, and if he gets sued, he needs tell John Roberts to find a way to enforce any ruling against him doing so. The Supreme Court is illegitimate due to the fact that it's clear as day that most, if not all of them have been accepting bribes.

This isn't a game.

Maybe Biden is using the 14th A. as his ace in the hole while he tries to get the Republicans to come to their senses.

Where is Mitch McConnell on this? Has he chimed in yet?

The Republicans are such disingenuous scoundrels for pulling this crapola every time a Democrat is in office but pass a clean bill - without any objection from Democrats, of course - anytime a Republican is in office.

The deadline is June 1st

You got it wrong

The pussies are the GOP, not Biden

Biden knows he's up against a bunch of terrorists and he also knows you don't call in the swat team until you play your hand. Doing otherwise plays into the hands of the terrorists

He's letting them hang themselves first, so before you judge his actions consider how much he wins if he does get them to make a deal

It allows him to continue to show his party is the one of reason. If they force his hand, then so be it, but you don't play that hand until you have to. That's politics and Biden is better at politics than they are

Either way, the GOP loses the most

It’s actually a stealth strategy.

EDIT: That said, I reserve the right to call Biden "a big pussy" if he doesn't use the 14th A.

Pelosi is acting as a shadow senator by advising Diane Feinstein not to step down - and who knows what else? Apparently, Pelosi doesn't want Gov. Newsom to appoint Barbara Lee as Feinstein's replacement.

So it’s not enough that the GOP holds this country hostage by refusing to pass gun regulations and passing all these theocratic fundamentalist crap against women & LGBTQ.

They now are desperate to cut hundreds of thousands of jobs, services for millions & forever taint the economic power of the USA.

Their base is really dumb if they’re ok with this stuff. This isn’t your nonsense culture war garbage. This is pretty much the only thing that matters - our economics.

I think the 14th amendment is a can of worms and potentially a lot of trouble and something the supreme court could reverse, so no, Biden isn't a pussy for not doing that. This debt ceiling stand-off seems to happen every year and I believe we've gone into default twice in my lifetime, once under Clinton once under Obama. Both times the republicans came out of it in worse shape for their efforts.

Biden has proposed a budget. The republicans have not. in lieu of using the 14th amendment, if McCarthy wants to default, let him default. It won't last long. I think the current course Biden is on is fine. It's the right play.

Why do you feel that way? The language is very clear and leaves little room for doubt. Constitutional expert, Harvard Law School Prof. Lawrence Tribe, agrees with me.

I'm not a constitutional expert.

On the one hand, McCarthy is probably posturing. He's going to yield.

David Brooks discusses his concerns here, starting about 2:30 in the video. I see no reason to doubt him. If Biden uses the 14th, then there will be lawsuits saying he can't do that, just as there were with the student loan forgiveness executive order, and it's going to go to the courts who will have power over the economy when they get those cases. It's a mess.

And do we really want the courts saying . . . sure, spend whatever you want and removing congress' say completely? It feels like a can of worms. The question isn't "can he do it", I'm sure he can. The question is, will the outcome be better if he does do it, compared to waiting for McCarthy to back down? I think BIden feels like it's the worse outcome if he uses the 14th. I think that's what his advisors are telling him. Let the republican party lose more vote. We've been in default before. It's no fun but it tends to not last very long.

oops, forgot the video:

This is what Jimmy Butler is for. He was selling coffee in the bubble during the pandemic, and now he is spanking the Celtics like Ime did his bosses wife.
