Do they even realize their half court offense stinks? Oh man.

Bobby on hiring Darko:
“Being able to coach star players in Fred, and Pascal…”

Sounds like Bobby is gearing up to pay a 3+D guard (assuming Darko gets him to revert to that) 30 million a year.

Bobby values positional size yet look at who they ran at the PG position. Seems contradictory.

This kind of seals it for me that when Webster was brought in, Masai took a backseat to a lot of player decisions and is letting Webster manage things. Webster continuously says things that baffle me and show a real detachment from reality, he lacks an analytical eye for talent and for seeing what the on court product is actually doing. I just can’t understand how he’s still doubling down. I can understand speaking highly of players under contract as to ensure we maintain their trade value, but Fred? They act like this guy is Steph curry.

Really hope Fred just leaves because he doesnt want to come back (and can get the money he wants elsewhere).

The issue is that their entire structural makeup of the “6’9 and above” is heavily flawed because they put together players who don’t compliment each others skills. None of them can beat their man off the dribble, they have repetitive easily scouted go to moves, they’re all mostly poor shooters.
Conceptually it would work if they had varied skills, but alas.
A good comparison to what we’re experimenting with is when don nelson first trotted out small ball lineups (and then George Karl to an extent). They didn’t have the talent, but the blueprint was there, and many of the teams you see today took the original concepts from Nelson’s offense.
It’s just hard for me to watch other teams understand the modern NBA so much better than us with strong/creative/shot making guards and position less players in other areas who can also shoot and handle, and we have a bunch of tall guys who were raw everywhere and we tried to make them into basketball players.

They will always talk up their current roster. There's no upside in saying something controversial just prior to the the draft and free agency.

No matter the player, any thing less is a clear signal that you don't care if he walks for free. Many, perhaps even most, of us would agree that would be a waste of an asset. What else do you really expect him to say?

He opted out, there is no sense in saying your coach needs to work with Fred unless you intend to re-sign him, and that would be a bad move in what would be doubling down on an already flawed core to begin with.

No one is going to say Fred sucks, he’s gone. The hope is to maximize his sign and trade value. But you don’t hire Darko if you’re planning to keep Fred. Fred is a bad fit for Darko.
