Why Did the Wizards Give Bradley Beal A No Trade Clause?
The super max was bad enough but did they really need to double down?
Did they really think he was a superstar or something?
Make it make sense

I can see the Sixers and Houston throwing the kitchen sink at the Wiz to get him
His contract is horrible though and he's not in the top-tier of ballers

Because they're woefully incompetent.

Re: Why Did the Wizards Give Bradley Beal A No Trade Clause?
Not just the no trade clause but why pay him that much to begin with? It was just a terrible move all around... Washington might not want to admit it but their best path forward is a full rebuild
Oh, what was that? They'd rather treadmill because the owner is more concerned with money?
Uh okay... Well guess what? Washington has failed at treadmilling as well and has been bottom 10 attendance the last 3 full seasons that the league has had...

The same reason the Pistons made Monty Williams the highest paid coach in history.
Poverty Franchises have to make overpayments and give out extravagant rewards to keep people around

He is the only player in the nba right now with a no trade cause… says a lot about the people in charge and their ability to create a winning team.

The problem is they didn’t have to do that. You should be rebuilding.

Because the last GM of the wizards thought it would be better to have an all star to sell tickets than trying to get going on the necessary rebuild

Never assume people in charge are actually competent.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

They are a small market team and the only way they can keep good players is to overpay. Same reason why the paid Juwan Howard 7 years 100mm contract back in 96.

Re: Why Did the Wizards Give Bradley Beal A No Trade Clause?
Giving out the no trade clause is inexplicably terrible. They absolutely had to know the contract was a questionable one in the first place and then they add on the ntc. Even if they manage to find a trade for Beal they’re going to get a lower return because he’ll probably only approve trades to like 7 teams.
The Wiz seem like they might finally be turning the corner but the fish usually stinks from the head, and the head (Leonsis) is still there.
