This suspension is probably more for Ja Morant than anything else -- giving him time to REALLY figure things out. What's important is that he gets his mental together -- even more so than basketball.

I still think he'll be fine, he's just got that kid mentality where he needs to learn to grow up a bit. 25 games is plenty enough time (hopefully) for that.

Think about what you just wrote. Delonte West pleade guilty for commiting a crime and was suspended 10 games. Ja Morant has not been charged much less accused of committing a crime with his recent incident, and this is considered 'weak' by Adam Silver.

Ja won't do it, because he stands to make 200-300 million dollars in the future if he just accepts it and moves on, but he actual has a viable case if wanted to sue the NBA for lost wages. There's no evidence that he broke Tennessee or federal gun laws and there's no language in the collective bargaining agreement about forbidding a bare arms on social media. And with the second amendment, there's probably a reason for that. NBA players are contractors with a CBA, not employees.

Again, he stands more to gain by accepting the punishment but unless the NBA is going to put specific language in the CBA about gun possession and social media, they're walking a slippery slope.

Ja Morant is a thug but even thugs have 2nd amendment rights.

Silver should have been clear that he suspended Ja due to his reckless disregard for his own safety and those around him by pointing a gun to his own head NOT because he is a lawful gun owner.
