Can't wait to see what Morey nets for Harris. I think the recent Westbrook trade will serve as a comp.

I wonder what we'd have to add to Harris to pry Pat Williams from Chicago in addition to taking on Lonzo's dead money. Pat seems like he's on the brink of breaking out.

I’d bet the Sixers get a better return for Toby than that.

To me the coaching change will be the single most impactful move of the off season, and I think a run it back has a legitimate shot at competing for a championship due to that more than anything else they may or may not do. Also, there is no juggernaut out there to fear, and there is not a whole lot separating the top 7-8 teams.
This fanbase is delusional. We’re coming off another playoff meltdown, and people are thinking a coach who was just fired himself is the savior lol. Denver is clearly a lot better than us. Boston has owned us for the past 6-7 years lol. We haven’t proven we can beat the Heat in a series either. Also can’t rule out Milwaukee and Phoenix as they have better top end talent than we do. If no major changes are made this team will be legit contenders, how exactly? Sure they might win 50+ games in the regular season, but there is nothing there to show me it won’t just be more of the same in May.
Better playoff coaching has this team beating Atlanta and not blowing leads.
Better playoff coaching does not have Embiid on the court so he can get his face fractured in a win against the Raptors when the game was already decided.
Better coaching finds a way to win when we are up against the Celtics.
Better coaching at least gets the team motivated to go out on their shield against the Celtics this year.
And I won't even be a little bit surprised if you see significant improvement from the bench squad. Because the coach will allow some player to play more. Really last season we were down Maxey, Embiid and Harden for long stretches and the team had a winning record. When the big 3 came back it was next to impossible to get the B-team guys any significant minutes going forward. The bench was primed but not used. Bad coaching.
I hope better coaching allows more players to develop. Doc really had to be forced to put certain guys on the court. I think Paul Reed, McDaniels, maybe House, and Springer need more chances during the regular season. It took Doc way too long to go to Reed. Joe didn’t get much of a shot. We refused to put Thybulle in the Nets trade, then Doc stopped playing him. Bassey didn’t get much of a chance.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
This could make for some interesting names becoming available either cheaply via trade or in FA via buyout.
Morey licking his lips over Eric Gordon for the tMLE.
While I'm licking my lips over a Roco reunion.
Also, looks like that tweet that was posted earlier has been aggregated:
Worth noting in terms of a potential Tobias deal, which could point to something happening sooner rather than later:

I'm wondering if all of these reports about Tobias will affect his value for better or worse.

I'd actually be open to that. Losing Springer would hurt a bit but we'd be bringing in two guys that fit like a glove.
A 3 and D wing and a tall scoring PG off the bench.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
Get Harden back on another two year player option deal, move Tobias for pieces that fit, re-sign Reed and McDaniels and damnit, buy us a second rounder because we actually draft well there. Bonus if you can clear Furkan’s salary along the way.

Finney Smith is a great get but not sure why Brooklyn would do that. They would probably want to use DFS to unload Harris albatross deal on some poor team

I could see them going after Dame and using Joe Harris’s expiring contract as a filler there. Something like Cam Johnson + Cam Thomas + J. Harris + picks for Dame.
Dame/Mills
O’Neale/Springer
Bridges/Harris
Tobias/Simmons
Claxton/Sharpe

I wouldn’t trade Springer at this point unless it’s for someone that moves the needle.

They do it because they'll probably be rebuilding for at least a year or two, they get Harris who's expiring next season and a nice young piece in Springer. They can potentially make a splash in free agency in the summer of 2024 and/or resign some of their current players without crossing into the second tax apron threshold.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
If you look at the numbers and also on eyetest, we need finishing/cutting in the paint. its still a 4 out offense if Biid is just gonna be at the elbow, which he is great at. Interior passing would force the ball moving because teams also couldnt just suffocate harden on his drives because he’s a threat to drop/lob it to a finisher at the paint (i.e Capela) its also so hard to defend 2v1 situations in the paint and harder to rotate to shooters because the 3pt shooters are far apart.
And in this year’s playoffs, i find the biggest theme out there is teams are deliberately leaving poor scorers which has worse effect than hunting poor defenders, since offense > defense. And this also allows their best weak side defender, who’s attached to this liabilities to help on defense.
Most teams the worst scorer on the floor is a center, because the center is at the paint that if you decide to leave him all game, he can shoot open shots around the rim and score 100pts.
The problem on this team is teams can just leave Tucker open for 3 the entire game. Unlike say Marcus Smart or KCP, its very likely Tucker wont make more than 5 3s for the entire game.
With regards to trading Harris, I like to get a borderline star in return. I dont see the value of 3&D guys SFs. I see DFS mentioned here, but have we forgotten how Tobi and Harden just cooked this guys? DFS was unplayable out there because he cant shoot. And even if you have scottie pippen there, teams can just hunt mismatches out there. Like how Celts hunted Maxey in crunch time or Embiid G7.
Personally, I’d be looking to trade Tucker instead. Until he’s here, we’re playing 4v5 on offense while he’s not that good on defense to make up for it.
we just need to add a dimension to our offense while dont make our defense worse.Teams can just leave DFS and Tucker out there all game. We’d be lucky to score more than 70pts at the end of the game.
Biid and Harden are almost stationary on offense, but they are the leaders in generating double teams and breaking down the defense. What we need is to have 3 guys moving and creating off ball chaos, which I hope Maxey, Tobi (or someone) and a lob threat option can provide that for us. If they can, teams would also have a harder time sending doubles to Biid and Harden.

I think it's quite obvious now that Phoenix is out of the running after the Beal trade.
Houston is the only other place that he could still end up but I don't see why he'd sign there except for non-basketball reasons.
