Orlando is the most secretive team in the NBA

Post#1 » by orthoman » Thu Jun 29, 2023 11:00 pm

I have been following this Forum for years.

It's interesting to read the fine posts by loyal Magic fans on different topics...players, the Draft, Free Agency, games, etc and I have enjoyed it all.

But, I have to say its amusing how Forum posters speculate and speculate...with no end in sight..nor any insider information as to what this FO does. It's laughable.

We have the most organic team in the League.

None of the Forum knows WTF this FO is going to do...and, when they make a decision, we succumb to it.

We are starved for information. The speculation game in Orlando is purely entertainment during down time.

Yeah i mean... is the guy who gets into the bath tub with Gortat still with us? That dude has dedication in pumping Gortat for info.

Also we know how secretive it is. I still belive that the reason we had that lockdown at the amway years ago was because a poster got some juicy info but was caught getting out.

Doesn't help every beat writer we've had leaves for better places and FOs to cover. We're a boring organization that doesn't make many moves and just floats down the NBA river happy to be involved.

The GM called me and told me they are cutting Fultz tomorrow.

Ever since the infamous whiteboard picture tweeted out by Patricio Garino's agent, I believe Orlando went dark.

Agreed. Very odd how active the trade/FA threads have been over the years. To me, it's a waste of time.

Maybe there isn't anything going on all the time, so nothing to leak...

They aren't secretive but passive.

List of not- resigned FA they signed since they arrived is:

Jonathan Simmons
Al Faruq Aminu

maybe i forgot somebody, but that's pretty much whole list in near 7 years.

Yeah I really hope this secrecy isn't just passivity and them being in "sit on our hands mode" once again. Hopefully they'll use all this cap space to move the team forward in some manner before it gets sucked up by extensions. Being tight-lipped isn't a bad thing though, just annoying for us fans. But it does leave the option of being pleasantly surprised.

Orlando hides that they will re-up Bitadze. If that is the starting point, we fans can KNOW we will never hear anything real from management on strategy!

It’s not just FA, it’s the mid-season trades, the drafts, pick-ups, and waives (although the last one seem obvious whose getting waived). We just don’t always see it coming. We’re not saying they are good acquisitions just that they are secretive and usually come out of nowhere. Orlando has not been aggressive in anyway except maybe when they traded Vuc, Fournier, and Gordon.

This is the saddest post of all time.

Weltman's 7-year plan:

#1 -- Hope for lottery luck.

#2 -- See #1.

He couldn't even bring himself to move off Mo Bamba...he actually re-signed him for a fifth year.

He is apparently going to stick with Isaac until the man's legs literally snap in half, and even then he might give him a few more years. (I honestly can't believe JI is going into his 7th year with the team).

Terrence Ross basically quit trying and stayed on two more years.

I'm prepared to be underwhelmed as free agency comes and goes while our front office starts studying the 2024 mocks.

Windhorst commented on a podcast that he heard Orlando was calling teams around the league about veteran players, just prior to the draft. I don’t think they’re being passive.

I believe this one. I don’t think he’s hearing it from Orlando but with teams he has a relationship with. He is connected

It's acutally worst

Evan- told French media he won't resign
Gordon -asked for trade in public after he asked for trade in private and they did nothing ( for probably some time)
Ross- told them he is done with team ( still traded him year later)

Bamba- resigned despite fact he sucked for 4 years. Just to dump him for nothing midway through first year of exstension.
MCW- added, dumped, added, dumped
