Mbappe Offered 1 Year/1.1 Billion
Do you think the NBAs future is at risk of the Kingdom deciding to purge athletics? Mbappe is now making equal to the top 26 NBA players COMBINED for the upcoming season. I see major issues, especially with so many of todays stars being foreign-born. Imagine if they were to offer Giannis a franchise with a home stadium in Greece. Luka with a home stadium in Slovenia. Jokic with a stadium in Serbia. Wemby with a home stadium in France, etc. A franchise in Dubai... it would have to be attractive.
Of course, this is all speculation but I absolutely think that Mbappe's contract is going to make owners and commissioners in American sports very nervous.

Saudi Arabia might make a rival to the NBA. They may offer all the top stars $100M per year contracts that the NBA owners will not want to pay.
I acknowledge and thank the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ First Nations for allowing me to live, work and play on their unceded traditional territories.

They won’t be allowed to pay them that much since there is a max salary in CBA

Mbappe's earning per second in euro:
€58.33m a month
€13.3m a week
€1.9m a day
€79,900 an hour
€1,332 a minute
€22 per second

Yep. The NBA is in prime spot to be purged. The max contract is a big vulnerability in the current model.

Technically $330m of that is a transfer fee that goes to his current club.

Re: Mbappe Offered 1 Year/1.1 Billion
There's an entire thread on this already and it's already been discussed at length:
Mbappe is just one guy, and he's by far and away the most valuable player in the what is by far and away the most popular sport in the world. The Saudis want name recognition, and only the most recognizable names are going to get these type of ridiculous offers.
The NBA is certainly known in many countries world wide, but its overall popularity (as with all other sports) pales in comparison to soccer/football. Its value falls off dramatically once they move outside the continent. As free spending as the Saudi government is with their attempt at sports washing, they're not just going to throw ridiculous money at a sport that only holds a fraction of popularity as football/soccer.
For as much as they overpaid those LIV golfers, the only offer they made that was Messi/Mbappe like was given to Tiger Woods, because he's the biggest name.

Re: Mbappe Offered 1 Year/1.1 Billion
I guess I’m wrong. I assumed top guys wouldn’t take this money.
Seems inevitable they will after every nba player and the league as we know it is done in like 10 years.
Lebron and Giannis already saying they want to go over there….

Messi and Tiger Wood turned down their money.
Lebron,Giannis and every other player in the NBA would take it, but they're not getting offered anywhere near what those other guys got. They just don't have the global popularity as the best football/soccer players.

Along with the American football running back realizing they are a dying breed who will never get paid like other too athletes, if this keeps up it may start sparking a shift to soccer by some of the young elite athletes that normally pick football as their main sport.

There's definitely a market for basketball, though. If you allow some of the Euro stars to play in their home countries, I imagine the popularity would grow even pretty immensely. As someone in sales leadership, I call that a huge growth opportunity.
Once again, they are paying Mbappe more than the top 26 NBA players combined. They don't need to pay them Mbappe money.

Tiger could have taken that check and spent the entirety of LIVs lifespan in rehab without ever touching the course and he still didn't. True GOAT ****

Also I would think is LeBron truly wants to own an NBA team, doing something like this that is truly an attempt to basically destroy the NBA would not gain him a lot of favor in a board of governors vote. I don't see how it wouldn't be a complete bridge burner. Would he take the bag if it meant never owning a team?

So where is this financial fair play rule?
It's so funny Arabs who are implementing sharia rules in their countries in the 21th century, are just buying the western values just because they can.
Seems like westerners are nothing but hypocrites when it comes to money.
