You have to send the best 12 Americans. Who do you send?

Here’s my lineup:

Starters: Curry, Booker, Durant, LBJ, AD

Bench: Morant, Lillard, George, Kawhi, Tatum, Zion, JJJ

No.

Lebron's likely done with Olympic play after he retires from NBA in 2 years.

Also, Kawhi won't contribute after load managing for 3 years.

A better lineup would be:

Starters: Curry, Booker, Tatum, Durant, Davis

Bench: Brunson, Edwards, Lillard, PG, JJJ, Brown, Randle

In a way, it’s good that the Americans did not send their best players (whatever is listed in this thread), at least give others a chance.

That grows the game and that’s okay for the short term.

Curry/Lillard
Kyrie/Booker
Tatum/Butler
KD/Kawhi
AD/JJJ

Probably add 2 more forwards- George and Lebron most likely.

Players in no order just 12:
Curry/Lillard/Booker
Butler/Tatum/Kawhi
Durant/Lebron/George
Davis/Bam

12th man goes to one of: Morant, Zion, Mitchell, Derozan, Randle, JJJ, Edwards, Fox pending what else you need out of the team, personally I would almost take the above mentioned 11 and then do what the old Olympic teams did and take 1 NCAA/rookie for the future

Not saying that team wouldn't be the top favorite to win gold but compared to some earlier (potential) rosters I'm not that impressed at all.

Although historically Americans watch sports in exact contrast to their internationality. Take the top sports, rank them in % of players which are American and that’s the order of American viewership. NFL most American, most watched, then NBA, then MLB, then NHL, then Soccer/football, it’s literally 1:1.

Might be slightly off topic, but this got me thinking what an all-time Team USA squad would look like… assuming we could take the prime versions of any players that have previously repped Team USA in international/FIBA play.

Magic/Curry
Jordan/Kobe/Reggie
Bird/Durant
Lebron/Melo/Barkley
Shaq/Robinson

Reggie’s one of my all time faves, so total bias there. I’ll pretend to justify it by saying it’s nice to have a situational all-time clutch shooter off the bench.

That team would be unstoppable.

Vets listed are probably best. But I and going younger so over next 10+ years they can play together multiple times.

PF/C: JJJ | Bam | Allen
F: Tatum | Banchero | Zion
G: Booker | Edwards | Brown
G: Morant | Young | Brunson

Try to keep teammates together, starters:
JJJ
Tatum
Brown (quick to bring in Banchero or Zion)
Booker
Morant

PG: Stephen Curry + Damian Lillard
SG: Devin Booker + Anthony Edwards
SF: J.Butler + Kawhi Leonard + LeBron James
PF: Kevin Durant + Jayson Tatum
C: A.Davis + Bam Adebayo + Jaren Jackson Jr.

I’d want Austin Reaves on any Team USA squad. That’s over guys like Paul George. He is just such a great fit

PG - Fox
SG - Ja
SF - Butler
PF - George
C - Durant

Basically I want to run the ball down your throat, and if that fails launch a 3, while having enough length and athleticism to play decent defense.

why are so many people suggesting Kyrie? his play is elite but I don't think I wan a nutcase like that repping the country. we look bad enough already.
