Wolves up by two in the first. No KAT, Conely, or McDaniels.

Finch is going to find every excuse possible to get NAW minutes this season. I wont be shocked to see him starting at Center one of these nights. Finch is enamored.

He is the first perimeter starting replacement, Kyle the first big replacement, I wouldn't expect that to change.

I just think its cool that most of us saw Walker as a throw-in in the Conely deal and Finch sees him as one of the most important pieces to this team. I think he will get big minutes this year, like have a Vando level role, just not start.

Re: ***Wolves vs Bulls final Pre-Season Game Thread***
Gobert is so bad offensively I had to turn the game off.
How a guy can have the lowest amount of offensive skill in the entire league and not realize it is beyond me.
Trying to post up when Ant is trying to get to the basket, holding the ball for 5 seconds when a double team comes until the inevitable turnover.
Why are you running plays and trying to get the ball to the guy with the worst hands in the league when you have so many great players?
It's like letting Forrest Gump make the mathematical caluclations for the moon landing.
If I have to watch another season of this garbage let alone 3 I will find another team to follow.
The worst part of the Rudy Gobert trade isn't Walker Kessler or the draft picks.
The worst part of the Rudy Gobert trade is Rudy Gobert.
I hope what happened in the first half was nothing but a preseason experiment and we are not in for a repeat of last season.

This was the greatest trade in Wolves history! It was great by addition by subtraction all by itself. Conley for Dlo alone was a major coupe. Not to mention the rest of it.
I would have traded NAW for Dlo straight up if the money matched.

It's encouraging that our 2nd and 3rd units outplayed the Bulls regular rotation in the 3rd quarter.

I'm wondering if Nix is getting the last two-way spot. He seems like he's moved ahead of Ryan/Keels/Martin. Plus, the Wolves could use more PG depth.

Are we watching the same game. I thought Gobert played reasonably well. The only bad part was he didn't get any blocks. I love the first 3 plays of the game with the first one lead to a Gobert dunk. There was a big-foot sighting in the stadium (I mean a Ant hook pass to Gobert for a dunk). At 3:36 second qtr, Kyle/Gobert did a pick and roll where the defenders just dropped back to Gobert for an open Kyle layup.
I wish to see more from Milton. We still need that second guy who can create for himself and others. WMJ has not taking the opportunity to show he belongs in the NBA. On the other hand, JMcL is making a case for the backup PG job.

Yes you should. You clearly not look at the team and make a fixation on Gobert which is way too much.... Rudy is not a good offensive player but he is elite rebounder and defense. You don't like it, it's your choice ans i respect thsat. But put the same topic every single game is annoying.
I'm not a Rudy fan but i'm pretty sure we will be very good this year , and Rudy will do his part.

Re: ***Wolves vs Bulls final Pre-Season Game Thread***
I'm pretty confident in saying this is one of the deepest Wolves teams we've ever had. No Conley, McDaniels or KAT and the replacement players, Milton, Anderson and Alexander-Walker were more than adequate. Not to mention Naz who is going to be a force off the bench. Even Brown Jr., who I anticipate being out of the rotation if the team is fully healthy has looked very serviceable.

I am a Rudy fan. The only thing about the trade for him that was a mistake is Connelly should have realized what we had in Kessler and not made it. Rudy does good things on offense as well as bad. Great picks and nice finishes on lobs.

But were you 100% sure that Kessler would solve our problems that had been exposed in the Memphis series? Looking at what Rudy brought to the table, why not trade Kessler and a some FRP's for a couple of years of Rudy? Did he overpay? Possibly, but how much is a championship worth??

During the pre draft days before last season we all discussed who the Wolves should draft. I preferred Kessler and predicted we would draft him. If we had a draft contest I would have won it. I thought we got a lotto value easy in him and hated him being in the trade. I didn't expect Rudy's play to decline like it did and I have hope he will bounce back this year. However Kessler by himself has easily more value than Rudy right now.

Re: ***Wolves vs Bulls final Pre-Season Game Thread***
I'm most upset at this point at Rudy KILLING the offense with his incredibly low BBIQ on that end (which really can't feasibly go any lower) and vast overestimation of his skill level.
If he would actually use that big body to be a supporting player and not a "look at me" basketball version of a Kardashian I could live with having a guy who's only good for setting picks and putback dunks.
You see the 3 lobs/putbacks he converted.
I see 20 minutes of terrible offense he was the centerpiece for, which would have been much worse if Ant hadn't been canning a bunch of long difficult jumpers, which were his only option with a 7'2 doofus who can't shoot outside of 3 feet or hold the ball for more than 3 seconds without turning it over posting up like an idiot and calling for the ball..
And Kessler has massively positive trade value while Rudy has negative trade value because age and contract matter, a lot.
And he's already at Gobert's current level of play.
But if Rudy doesn't somehow get his head on straight on the offensive end, the worst part of the Gobert trade is going to be Rudy Gobert, not Kessler or the draft picks.
Before Ant gets to the same point with him that Donovan Mitchell did.
If he's not there already.
