Do the players make any money for the Play-In Tournament?

Post#1 » by MagicTownBaller » Mon Nov 20, 2023 2:53 am

I was having a discussion with my cousin, and we can't find any information on if players get paid for the Play-In Tournament.

Its a regular season game, you get your regular season pay plus a little bit more if you make it further. If you win the finals which is one extra new game you get half a mil.

Players on a team that loses in the quarterfinals: $50,000
Players on a team that loses in the semifinals: $100,000
Players on a team that loses in the championship: $200,000
Players on a team that wins the championship: $500,000

Even the coaches get some extra cash which is nice.

The head coach of the in-season tournament's winning team will earn $500,000. That is the same amount that the winning team's players are slated to receive.

In addition, NBA assistant coaches will earn an additional share of the pool money that will equal 75% of the winning coach's total payout.

Unoriginal thought but I wonder if lower salary guys treat this more like a playoff game, knowing they're playing for something that could somewhat seriously impact their salary.

Not that it matters but he's talking about the play-in tournament. According to everything online it says they make around $300K for the first round playoff series per team. I'd imagine there is something in there for the play-in but it's relatively minimal

Not the in-season tournament, the play-in for the playoffs. But this is good information for that.

Ah my bad lol. They don't get any extra money for the play in games.

Yes they do. AD mentioned an unnamed Lakers player who alluded to this recently. You can look up the quote it was like a week ago or so
