Why not close games with both Reaves and Dlo

Post#1 » by heezyo2o » Wed Dec 20, 2023 11:52 pm

Last regular season, both Dlo and Reaves were playing most of the 4th quarter and the Lakers looked good. The fifth guy was either Vanderbilt or Troy Brown and maybe Rui sometimes.

Why can't they do that his season instead of regulating Dlo to the bench in the 4th. Dlo can still shoot, is a rhythm shooter and can help the offense.

This season in the 4th they instead use Prince and Reddish. Is Reddish really that great on defense because he gives very little on offense

Dlo should be benched and neither should be playing with each other :) Dlo Is too Inconsistent and reminds a lot of Swaggy P more then anyone, while good and can give you 30 any given night, but that said "any given time". He gives you nothing 3-5 games In a row, then all of a sudden goes off, but more so then none gives you nothing - but hush, hush, need to keep this quite so other teams will still see some value In him:) - Dlo Is not Laker Material never has been never will be... Maybe better on Clippers LOL

The only positive they got in acquiring him was just getting someone in return for getting rid of Westbrook. In retrospect, I wish they just straight up traded for Conley instead. Yes he is old but at least he is reliable when his shot is not falling unlike D’Lo who is completely useless if he is not shooting the ball well.
Conley is still playing 30 minutes for the WC leaders, with a 63TS% and at +2.9 BPM. No he is not the best player in that team but definitely a good floor leader unlike Russell.

DLo is an defensive liability that is why he is not closing games.

He's not great, but they did go on a run at the end of last regular season with Dlo in the lineup in the 4th. A few seasons ago, they had Rondo in there who of course was poor defensively too, but they made it work.

I'm not saying Dlo is good defensively, but you can find a way to make it work to take advantage of his strengths

Last season's end was flush with star injuries all around the league. Not a real sample of anything.

Secondly, Reaves' defense has fallen off a cliff since last season. He is limited, but he used to give it everything last year. No longer the case.

Reaves will pick it up when needed, just like AD will and LeBron, too. See IST. Can’t go 100% on every play for 82 games.

It’s also completely demoralizing to watch others idle on every defensive possession. It’s antithetical to efficient team defense as well as general team chemistry.

Lamar Odom had a interview where he talked about a potential Lakers lineup that he would like to see.

He suggested LeBron at point, Austin, Reaves, Rui, vando, and AD.

I love that lineup good on defense, spread. the floor, gives us length to cover all positions

Dlo is a guy that will never aquaint to anything in regards to winning. An immature liability that drains everyone around him.

Once Vando is healthy, I agree with Odom’s line-up 100%.

What did Swaggy do to deserve this comparison? At least he showed he cared.

Russell is the luckiest player to have ever played. Nothing in his game equates to a max pay slot yet he lucked into one with the Warriors because Durant wanted out. They, a championship caliber team, got rid of him as soon as they could. We had to take him to get rid of Westbrook.

This clown is counting money players 2 times as good as him will never see. You'd think he could at least act like he belongs.

What a huge mistake and I do believe AD and Lebron had something to do with it esp when, AD posted an eyeball emoji about possibly landing D-Lo a couple of years back. In hindsight, yes, they are desperate to get somebody when they were trading Westbrook, but who would have thought the old Mike Conley would still be this reliable dude for Minnesota?
career high in TS% at 64%, BPM of 3.3 highest since 5 years ago etc etc. Sure, they probably won't be able to get Vando, but they could have gone straight up trade Russ to Utah.

DLo is already exposed. Opposing teams will attack his defense especially on crunch time. And it is more likely that opponents will score on DLo than DLo scoring on them. Unless he plays a decent D it will be hard to play DLo in crucial situations.

Only comparing them In regard to how streaky they are/were, meaning they can give you 30 Or a bunch of nothing 3-5 games:) and Swaggy P was the first one came to my mind on that, I love Swaggy and have nothing against him, but he was also very streaky and frustrated the hell out of most of us at the time being on Lakers LOL
