OKC has two lottery picks in the upcoming draft
courtesy of Houston and Utah. Let’s say it ends up being the 9th and 10th picks of the draft.
What should they do with them? Stash young talent on cost controlled contracts? Or trade the picks with Giddey for a high impact player? Who would be the trade target?

Depends what happens later this season, but I think they are most likely trade those picks and maybe Giddey as well.

Utah's pick is top 10 protected and Utah is currently tanking to keep their pick.

Yup, no guarantee Utah stays in the top 10. Also with the flattened odds, they could just as likely end up with no lotto picks.

eh. There has to be someone worthy of trading them for. More likely than not, that player will not be available and they'll make 2 picks and bury them on their bench, or they''ll trade them for lightly protecteted/unprotected picks in the future and keep their flexibility.

Def will look to trade Giddey and pick(s), but not sure there's a strong market.
Minny put Gobert on him and it worked. Teams will try the same in the playoffs for sure.
Depending how he responds could go a long way in determining his value.

Giddey does not even get to play make on that team, so of course defending his spot ups will be easy to anyone, he is just miscast completely.

San Antonio could have 2 lottery picks as well. Theirs and Toronto (top 6 protected).
Also Portland, theirs and Golden State (top 4 protected).

I think ideally they'd like to move Giddey and those picks for Mitchell or Trae in the offseason. Trae seems doable, Mitchell would be better, but it's hard to see him agreeing to commit to Oklahoma City. Either way, those picks are going to be far more valuable as a trade asset than they are in the form of the players they would select. Their rotation is pretty solidified.

With the more punitive salary cap, rookie-scale contracts provide immense value in both building depth and managing your books.
OKC surely have one big trade in them but don't be surprised to see them fill out the roster with multiple lottery picks.
Chet and Jalen will be extension-eligible less than 18 months from now, and their second contracts will kick in by 2026. It's not that far away.

The 2024 draft is going to to be the worst draft in over twenty years. Besides, the Rockets pick is top four protected.
That pick is worthless. They’re most likely drafting a role player with that pick.

TBF, OKC is a contender so it's interesting to discuss what they would do with these 2 picks. San Antonio and Portland will likely just use both picks.

You're most likely drafting a role player with pretty much every pick outside of the top 5 (if that). On average, there's probably like 3-4 allstars picked in most drafts.

This draft looks like it lacks superstars but it has a bunch of very good prospects. To act like a top 10 pick is worthless because you are most likely drafting a solid role player is just dumb. The thunder have their stars so what they need are really good role players so this draft is perfect for them.

Re: OKC has two lottery picks in the upcoming draft
What a terrible draft overall, but especially if you're going to be OKC with two lottery picks. They need size, and there's really none they can get. The site I looked at had them with the #9 and #13 picks.
If I'm Presti I would probably try to package the #9 and Giddy for a veteran with size, then try to trade back with the #13 to get multiple picks in the late teens/early 20's where there are some project big men that they could look at.

From a fundamental standpoint it is better for a man to have nothing but be under the protection of Jesus Christ than for him to have everything he could ever want yet be completely without.

Utah isn't making alot of sense. They were among the top records in the west over a large sample size, but decided to tank for a 10th pick in a weak draft instead?
And seeing that's their plan, why didn't they trade Clarkson and Sexton at the deadline?
