GSW/UTA/LAL/BKN

Post#1 » by kds92 » Tue May 21, 2024 4:15 pm

Combining a few ideas that have been mentioned previously. Trying to get Lauri to GSW and find a taker for Wiggins.

GSW In: Lauri, DFS
GSW Out: Wiggins, Kuminga, Moody, 2026 1st, 2028 1st, 2030 1st (prot. 21-30), 2 ATL 2nds (2026/28)
Warriors extend their window by getting a nice-fitting second option. They can use the full MLE, re-sign Klay, and stay under the tax if they let CP3 & Looney go. They also get off Wiggins' long-term $$$ ahead of signing Lauri to a long-term deal.

UTA In: Rui, Kuminga, Moody, #17, 2026 GSW 1st, 2028 GSW 1st, 2030 GSW 1st (Lakers also unprotect 2027 1st)
UTA Out: Lauri, Kessler
Jazz get a nice prospect in Kuminga and 3 unprotected firsts, along with an additional mid-range 2024 first.

LAL In: Wiggins, Kessler
LAL Out: Rui, Vincent, JHS, #17, 2025 2nd, Lakers also unprotect 2027 1st
Lakers get a two-way 3&D wing and a young backup big. They still have two 1sts and 3 swaps they can package with Reaves/Vando/DLO to get a player like Dejounte if they want. Feels a little weird to help a division rival get a star though.

BKN In: Vincent, JHS, 3 2nds
BKN Out: DFS
Nets get three 2nds and a PG prospect for DFS and for taking on Vincent's contract (slightly cheaper than DFS).

I just don't love the idea of trading for Laker or Warrior picks as I assume they'll always be at least average.

Lauri is obviously an incredible fit with the Warriors, he and Steph would kill teams offensively.

Just like... The Warriors probably won't be that bad in 2026, 2028, or 2030.

Fair, but I think Steph, Draymond, and Klay will have retired by 2028. The new CBA makes it very difficult to team build without drafting successfully since many superstars extend with their existing teams. With Lauri and not many picks, I'm not sure how successfully GSW can rebuild post-Steph, even though they are a big market.

I think the Lakers should be removed here, but I like the general idea.

Can't see the Lakers having any real interest in this deal. The luster of Wiggins' revival has pretty much worn off, so I can't imagine they're going to be interested in giving up any real assets for him. And Golden State probably is ready to hand those minutes to Kuminga anyways. I might be able to get behind something like Rui/17 for Wiggins/29, but I'm definitely not unprotecting my pick for Wiggins.

This is a very good return for DFS. I suggested something similar earlier this season.

It’s hard to see LA doing this though. They shouldn’t unprotect their 2027 1st for this.

I'm worried, as a Warriors fan, that we WOULD be that bad in 2028 and 2030. Steph will be done by then and we don't have another star to replace. I'd rather keep those picks tbh. It's essentially a 2 year window for them rn
