Yes and it’s not even close.

But the usual suspects will be in here moaning and groaning because he’s better than their childhood hero.

Yes, he is. The only one who comes somewhat close is Kareem. But I wouldn't even say it's super close and I'm very high on Kareem.
Even other longevity monsters like Malone, Stockton or Duncan aren't even in the discussion here in my opinion through no fault of their own.

Edit:
Just to be clear. We're talking about the best player from age 30 to 40 in NBA history and not the best current player who happens to be between 30 and 40, right?

Edit 2:
Pretty embarrassing that I forgot about MJ himself, lol.

I mean jordan had a 3 peat in his 30s.
I would say Lebron is the best 35-40 yr old player
With kaj 2nd
Then Karl Malone 3rd

A decade is too broad to compare as most guys retired in their mid late 30s but achieved and performed just as well or if not better than Lebron before retirement.
Who knows if Jordan kept going and got another top 10 player to play with him he might have 7 rings before slowing down at 37 imo.
But it's definitely safer to say he's the best 35-40 yr old.
If your definition is players who play from 30-40 then there's not a lot of them to compare, it's then a longevity argument again.

But
I'd take Jordans 3peat
3 fmvps
2 mvps
3 first team and 3 defensive first teams between ages 30-35

Than lebrons 2chips 2fmvps
no mvps
4 or 5 first team nba?
No defensive any teams

between 30-40

Kareem won 4 rings in 30-40. I would take that over LBJ easily as well

Good lord, he's been sitting on the sidelines for weeks now, and still talking about him.

He's still the face of the league even at age 40.

It must hurt you this guy has been the talk of the league for 2 straight decades.

Lebron has been the best player period. That just happens to include ages 30 to 40 too.

I thought this was gonna be about if he is CURRENTLY the best player between 30-40. Which honestly might still be true if you were talking about one game (although Embiid just turned 30 too)

Embiid is the best 30-40 year old player today. He's 30.

Jordan is the greatest 30-40 year old player of all time thanks to his final run with the Bulls.

I guess the question should be who was the best player throughout their entire 30s. Jordan took too much time off in his 30s to be considered. The only real candidates I think for this one are Kareem and Lebron.

- Jordan did not play in the NBA his age 30 season.
- Jordan played 17 games his age 31 season
- Jordan did not play in the NBA from age 35-37.
- Jordan played extremely mediocre basketball for the Wizards at age 38 and 39.
- Jordan was probably the best player in the league at age 32 and 33 (maybe at 34 as well, though I think it's close that year with Robinson, Malone, maybe Shaq).

So you're taking 3 really good Jordan seasons, 2 Wizards seasons, and 17 games of #45 comeback Jordan over Lebron's entire return to Cleveland run + his entire time on the Lakers?

Even if you ranked all 3 of those Jordan seasons higher than any of Lebrons... we're still talking about 3x as much quality basketball played. I'm curious, where's your cut off of for that? Like if Jordan played only 1 great season in his 30s, would you still have him qualify?

I think Jordan did enough to be mentioned in this conversation, but to hold him up as the best 30-40 year old seems like a stretch.

Jordan was a better player from age 31-35 and I don't think that's even debatable(he won his 6th championship at age 35). Obviously old man LeBron has been better than what Jordan was with the Wizards.

When talking about age 36-40 Kareem was always the king and best but LeBron is right there too. Kareem was top 5 in MVP voting in his age 36,37,38 seasons. He was first team all-nba twice and second team all-nba once in those years. He also won championships in 85 (age 37), 87 (age 39), and 88 (age 40) so if you did a side by side Kareem would have a strong case for age 36-40 and Jordan is clearly best from age 30-35.
