Ty Lue, Clippers Agree To Long-Term Contract Extension

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed May 29, 2024 4:11 pm

Ty Lue and the Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a contract extension that will make him one of the NBA's highest-paid coaches.

Lue was elevated to head coach of the Clippers in 2020 and guided the team to the Western Conference Finals in the following season.

Lue had one season remaining on his contract and was a target of teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns.

It's refreshing to see a franchising recognizing the value of having a talented coach despite going through a disappointing season.

They had to pay him extra so he didn't walk over to the Lakers' bench.

Physically, location wise, is it the same bench, no?

Tom Thibodeau’s value just went up by $2-3 million per season. That’s why his agent held out. Watch him sign his new deal within the next week.

I love Thibs but he's not getting that type of money.

Ty Lue has always been a great coach, however, the Clippers didn't really have the team for him.

Thibs is a two time COY on two different teams. He just coached the best Knicks team in 24 years.

How many COYs does Lue have? OK, he’s got a Championship and many Finals appearances… so Thibs is a mil or two behind.

AGAIN, I love how Coach Thibs outperform, HOWEVER, he tends to run his players to the ground, which leads them to not wanting to play for them.

Not true… he has never had a player “run to the ground” who didn’t want to play for him.

Also, playing players has nothing to do with a coach’s contract. Coaches get paid based on results.

Luol Deng, Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, and J. Noah, would all beg a differ.
