Luka Doncic: My Turnovers, Missed Free Throws Cost Us Game 2

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jun 10, 2024 3:35 pm

Luka Doncic was critical of his own play in the Dallas Mavericks' Game 2 loss at the Boston Celtics. Doncic had a 30-point triple double, but he also had four turnovers and three missed free throws.

"I think my turnovers and my missed free throws cost us the game," Doncic said. "So, I've got to do way better in those two categories.

"But at the end of the day, we've got to make shots to win the game."

Kyrie Irving also continued his slow start to the series and took accountability for his play.

"He's not alone, and we are going to tell him that," Irving said of Doncic. "He's spilling into his emotions, feels like he could play better, just like me. I would take the brunt of the responsibility. The first two games weren't the best for me."

I know Luka is a generational talent, but I cannot stand his demeanor on the court. He complains on every single offensive possession, whether or not he makes a basket. He flops, he pouts, and as we saw this past game, when he gets overly frustrated, he makes lazy plays that cost his team.

I'm glad he owned his faults this past game, but I'm not so confident that it will translate to the court when the game gets tough.
