If he's stepping away then it should make the decision pretty easy for everyone. Maybe he did Lacob and the team a favor.

Maybe he wants to clear his head going into negotiations and doesn't want to see any Warrior related things to influence him to stay for less. IDK.

Sail away already Klay.
Go chase that badly needed money. We thank you for your service and a statue is in the works.

Two can play that game, Señor Thompson. How will you like it when we unfollow Rocco the dog?

Re: Klay Thompson unfollows Warriors on social media
If this is the end for Klay & the Warriors - it was a helluva run!
I actually don't think it is. With the All-Star game at Chase I think Lacob would love to have Klay there. Plus the Valkyries start 2025 - would seem odd not to have him, but those are very minor details.

Bogut did the exact same thing just before he left. It's a player's way of letting everyone know he's gone. Not that difficult to understand.
And if you let Klay walk and get nothing in return when you could have traded him at the deadline? What another huge blunder by this FO.

You're really fishing for something to complain about here. Klay was a #11 pick who paid off handsomely for the better part of 10 1/2 seasons. Dude is a future Hall of Famer. Jimmer freaking Fredette and someone named Jan Veselý were picked ahead of Klay in that draft. The Dubs also resisted a much rumored trade of Klay for Kevin Love. The only "mistake" associated with Klay was giving him a 5th season following the ACL injury. Other than that, nobody in their right mind has anything at all to whine about how the team handled Klay Thompson.

Fishing?
What you talked about all happened in the past. They gave Klay 43 million to be a glorified bench player this year. They were on the playoff/play-in cusp, and ultimately fell short of making the playoffs. The idea at the trade deadline was to improve, for contenders to try and get better, much like Dallas, which of course pulled the trigger and changed their season. The Warriors did nothing. What could they have gotten for Klay? Who knows of course. But there's real value with his expiring contract and his known shooting. They certainly could have improved, gotten something better for that year as well as the next season. And isn't THAT what's important here, not how productive Klay might have been in the past?
It actually is somewhat understandable if the plan is to keep Klay, find a role for his shooting (whether that's off the bench or playing limited starter minutes). But if you're just playing out the string? If you don't (as it seemed) care about improving at the deadline or in the future? That is FO malpractice. Period.

unfortunately Thompson family will try to squeeze out every penny, they are not the type to take any discount, so he's showing the poker face already

Yep. He's actually throwing a tantrum, screaming, "look at me, look at me," and letting everyone know how unhappy he is with the Warriors.
OK, Klay, we got it. Time to move on.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the FO wants to save some money for a change, after two years where they paid almost a billion for literally nothing?

When is the last time anyone in the NBA took a discount though? Demarcus Cousins? Even he ended up barely being worth what we paid him that year.

You don’t need to look far. Both Draymond and Wiggins’ recent re-sign were less than what everyone expected, and with much less drama than Klay right now.
Klay’s extensions were more than what was expected, and right now creating drama and trying to squeeze out every penny.

we've paid him way more than he's worth the last few years, so yea, he has no leg to stand on here
