The Warrior Hornet

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Thu Jun 20, 2024 8:58 pm

Looney
Payton II
26 ATL 2nd
28 ATL 2nd

for

Grant Williams

Hornets get a couple 2nds and future cap relief for a guy who was traded there as a bad contract. The 2nds are mainly because he put up some numbers there so assuaging the fanbase with something.

Warriors save some money against the cap this year and pick up a bench 3&D forward.

warriors need a C alot more than williams. dont think it makes sense to waste their remaining fillers/2nds on williams.

i'd pass. Grant was essentially duplicating what PJ Washington was giving us prior to the trade. He's far from untradeable, but I'd expect more than this, and happy to keep him if we can't.

Yeah, a bench PF is a need but that's more of a 10th man role. Williams is too expensive for that role when they need to use limited assets on a starting C and probably a higher minutes backup PG.

Also, GS doesn't have budget issues this season (assuming they waive Paul and don't offer Klay a stupid high contract). They could have some next year though depending on how much Kunminga and Moody get (if not traded). So having Payton (and Looney though he could be waived) on the books this year isn't a problem but trading them for long-term money could be.

Ewww, no thanks for GS. Wouldn't even trade GPII for Williams straight up, let alone add more.

Yeah, Hornets probably won’t consider moving Grant while the Miles Bridges contract remains unresolved. He is the starting PF if Bridges goes somewhere else.

Also Grant is from Charlotte and I value him pretty highly as a good locker room guy.
