Re: [Wojnarowski]: Monk To Re-Sign In Sacramento [4/$78M]
I'm not sure he would have gotten much more outside Sacramento. I feel like Orlando was the only team that made sense going higher than that (I think he could start next to Suggs) but they have other options they might prefer.
This does simplify the Kings offseason.

Definitely going to be dumping one or both of Barnes/Huerter. Is that Bruce Brown music I hear??

Orlando 2nd biggest winner here behind Monk. That one never made sense to me. So good I guess for the Kings, really good for Monk who gets a big payday.

I was skeptical that Monk's open market value would be much more than this. I think this kills any idea of LaVine to the Kings.

The changes the calculus for the Kings towards wings and front court in trades, Free agency and draft.

BAH GAWD THATS BRUCE BROWNS MUSIC!
Bruce Brown is in the building!
(In all seriousness, yes)
Bruce Brown, #19
for
Harrison Barnes, #13, POR ‘25 2nd
I actually think a Huerter trade is more likely given the need at PF, so you can swap Huerter in the above. You could also get Boucher as a backup 4/5 if needed, by exercising and trading Duarte/Davion.
Brown, Boucher, #19
for
Huerter, Sasha, Duarte, Davion, #13, POR ‘25 2nd
With Fox, Monk, Brown, and Ellis, you’re at 48 mins of PG-SG.

I think Caruso going to the Thunder did that
We were interested in Lavine AND Caruso
The Bulls won't take our scrubs for Levine, and we weren't giving up draft capital for him - Caruso was the bridge there

I personally think that the Kings will target a Forward with their tradeable assets at this point

This is right. Sac will work to finish below the tax. There’s lots of wiggle room but this will be a priority IMO.

Re: [Wojnarowski]: Monk To Re-Sign In Sacramento [4/$78M]
With Monk in the fold and some desperation to be back in serious playoff mix-- would McNair make an outbid offer for Ingram? Monk has the same agent as Ingram... #eyeemoji ... so contract discussions can made clear through that channel.
Some mix of Barnes/Heurter/DMitch/Duarte/Lyles, etc. + #13 + future picks and swaps.... Makes sense that Kings would really want to push some chips in for a good-fitting semi-star wing while still keeping the Fox/Monk/Murray/Sabonis core.
For Pels, they either take a talent step back and re-tool their asset chest for future moves, while adding good depth pieces-- or find a way to reoute the Barnes/Heurter, etc. and picks to a 3rd team for bigger win-now pieces.

Reality is we are an over the cap team and had no choice. Is he potentially overpaid, maybe, likely? But his impacted winning for us and has good chemistry with our 2 top dogs. Had to happen

These new raise a very important question, is Shams washed? he's babbling about Mario Hezonja...
