Brook Lopez on the trading block. {Trade proposals}

Post#1 » by MessiahUjiri » Fri Jun 21, 2024 5:04 pm

Per Kevin O'Conner (The Ringer):

There are rumblings that the Bucks would like to play a more versatile style of defense next season, which raises the question of whether Brook Lopez has a future there. Trading Brook Lopez for Brown is a perfect match of salaries, and then the Raptors could flip Lopez elsewhere. The amount of screening and cutting Brown could do in support of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard would be glorious to watch.

O'Conner's suggestion is that Lopez would go to a 3rd team, like New Orleans, Memphis, even OKC.

BroLo’s contract is expiring at $23M. Still a very good center (top 5 defensive C) who can stretch the floor, block shots, and brings championship experience.

One version could be a 3 team deal: BBrown goes to Milwaukee, and Lopez goes to a contender, who sends contracts + assets to Toronto.

Or a simple BroLo+33 for Brown…and Toronto ships one of Poeltl / Olynyk / BroLo for someone later.

At the absolute most it's a 1-for-1 because of Milwaukee's limited ability to make trades. Milwaukee shouldn't be sending any picks.

Brooks for Brolo maybe.

We had interest in the past, but getting Adams may have changed that.

Maybe Brolo + Pat for Ayton + filler? Milwaukee would need to throw in a pick though and I'm not sure they should consider that.

Bucks can't aggregate.

And much like with the Brown idea, why does a contending team want to get worse and get no incentive? Except here you are asking them to pay you to get worse.

I would love the Warriors to figure out a way to get Brook but with both teams dealing with various apron-related issues, it's hard to see a deal that works. Wiggins makes just too much for a straight-up deal, so Milwaukee would have to aggregate. Looney/GP2/Moody works $ wise but just makes Milwaukee worse.

It is hard to find the right deal.

DFS + Kenrich Williams + 2nd(s) to Milwaukee
BroLo to OKC
Dieng to Brooklyn

Milwaukee gets two wings/bigs who can shoot but can switch
OKC stays 5-out and adds size
Brooklyn gets a prospect

I think you can send out more, as long as it’s to a non tax team….ie you can dump salaries.

Toronto could conceivably take on Wiggins + a minor asset. They could even take GPayton into the TPE, if you attach an asset.

I’ve been thinking of a Wiggins/GP/Moody deal, and it might make sense to do it.

That's all true but I don't fundamentally believe in the BroLo for Brown part of this deal so I was thinking of a trade directly with Milwaukee.

Think the Bucks would be looking for multiple players back so something like this is what I have been looking at. Couple of serviceable wings and draft capital is about right.

I think they are similar value and not a 1st different.

There would be some poetic symmetry if BroLo & DLo were traded for each other again.
