The Houston Rockets are looking to add veteran help this summer. They seem to be dreaming big, with eyes on Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns. In order to get there, Houston will have to offer Phoenix a big deal, but they are close to being able to do so.

The Rockets could offer starting center Alperen Sengun as the headline player in a deal for Durant. Houston also acquired several Suns future draft picks in a deal with the Brooklyn Nets. Those picks would presumably be routed back to Phoenix in any deal for Durant.

Sengun averaged 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists last season for the Rockets. He's eligible for a rookie scale extension this offseason, and could command max or near-max money in such a deal.

Durant has two seasons and $105.9 million left on his contract. The Rockets would need to match $51.2 million in salary in a deal this offseason for the veteran superstar.

As a Suns fan, Sengun, #3 and all our picks back would have to be the minimum. Plus Brooks for cap purposes too I guess.

If Houston trades Sengun and draft picks for old man KD, everyone in Houston needs to be fired. Sengun is a great young talent. It would be like trading Shai and multiple picks for PG13 all over again. We know who won that trade.

The Rockets are not the Warriors team KD ran to, and it’s not the KD today who did the running then.

This is a very shortsighted scenario on Houston’s part if there’s any validity to it.

I don't think there's much to this. Sounds a lot like when the Durant for Scottie Barnes rumours were out there. Sengun for Durant straight up, I'm not sure I would do if I was HOU, let alone attaching (multiple) picks. They can have Fred and picks though lol, but then...why do this trade?

Honestly I think it's just wordplay based on speculation.
If you pick the article apart, yes here are facts: HOU is looking for vet help, and yes they have PHX picks, and yes, Durant is widely known to be available since it's not working out in PHX, and HOU probably has considered Durant.

Then skip...to the opinion/speculation part:

Rockets COULD offer Seungun in the deal.
Rockets could also offer any player on their roster in the deal too.

Article just stirring up sh** to get views. There's like a 5% chance that Sengun would be traded for Durant...cuz...FVV/Green/Brooks/Durant/Adams is NOT going very far in the playoffs lol.
