Lakers trade with Nets

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Sat Jul 6, 2024 9:49 pm

This is the best option for the Lakers IMO.

Lakers get CamJ, DFS, Sharpe
LeBron, Reaves, DFS, CamJ, Davis -- Vincent, Christie, Knecht, Wood, Sharpe
Lakers bring in 2 3+D wings that enable LeBron to play PG again. And a backup C.

Nets get DLo, Rui, Vando, LAL28swap, LAL29FRP
Nets get some see decent players to try get future value from a long with an unprotected FRP and swap.

This is a bad idea for LAL imo. this would be great with a 31-33 year old LBJ.

The value is good. Brooklyn can be patient and trade off these guys when opportunity comes up.

LBJ played as PG on 2020 Lakers team without starting with a playmaker like Reaves. I think Lakers might need Lowry or Graham as backup PG for playmaking but otherwise should be ok.

We will probably attempt to trade DFS or Johnson individually, rather than water down their asset return by moving both at the same time.

This might be enough value for one of them. Vanderbilt is a nice in the right context but not a fit with us IMO, so absorbing his contract is not a plus for Brooklyn.

Can't imagine the Lakers are interested in handing potential lottery picks for good role players.

That's why they keep failing.
No respect for star role players. Trying to go for stars.

Role players don't fetch unprotected picks. Especially not in a post-LeBron era. I'm not saying the idea of adding good role players is a bad fit. I'm saying this is a pretty hefty overpay.

Well it's probably the price paid.. Unfortunately JHS not Christie have a lot of value.

Put top 5 protection on the picks and it works.
