Anyone absorb DLo? (Lavine to LA)
Not sure if this has been asked (maybe by me?), but would any team take DLo into capspace or a TPE? I think the two options are Det and BRK.
Also, not sure if LA can do a trade of Rui/DLo for Lavine-not sure how this new apron thing works. Vincent might need to be added, which makes it much less attractive for Chi
Would Det take a top shooter? They need scoring, and DLo can shot/score
BRK is on the tank, but they need NBA players and DLo is expiring.
MAYBE Chi throws in the Port 1st, to grease the wheels. But adding Rui (and, if necessary, much less attractive adding Vincent) and losing Lavine helps Chi a lot moving forward. And I think Lavine is VERY underrated on these boards, and still a good player but Chi needs to start fresh around the kids
Maybe it's this
DLo to 3rd team, along with the Port 1st
Lavine, JCarter to LAL
Rui, Vincent, JHS to Chi

Take out JHS and JCarter.
I think this could be a framework that was discussed

Vincent, Rui, and DLo would be pretty solid for Chicago for Lavine at this point in time.

Bulls have no need for Vincent, but I think he'd have to be included, due to the apron? Don't want DLo-that's why I wonder if another team would take him for free (or a minor draft asset?)

DLo and a first for a couple seconds and one of Cam Johnson, DFS, or Schroeder might work.

You are assuming that the Nets want any part of the luxury tax.

The dislike for DLo is getting ridiculous on this forum.
D'Lo did struggle in the playoffs but was a major contributor during the regular season, which is extremely important. LaVine has the worst contract in the league and based on recent performance he's not even an upgrade over D'Lo.

That Portland first is probably just going to be seconds, but on the off chance that it's not, and because they could possibly flip him at the trade deadline, I think Detroit would definitely take on DLo into their cap if the Portland first was part of the deal.

Re: Anyone absorb DLo? (Lavine to LA)
Great to send out Carter as he didn't play much when he could have last year. But just plain wrong to replace him with Vincent with the same length of contract for TWICE as much money. If the Bulls are getting JHS the goal has to be to work him into the rotation even if slowly so that puts him ahead of Vincent. So what good is Vincent at $11M as the fifth or sixth in line guard if he's making as much as either Coby or Ayo? And that's without considering that Lonzo Ball might be healthy. They'd do just as well taking Russell and hope he doesn't become disruptive due to playing time because he's auditioning for his next contract. He'd be fine to move at the deadline

The Lakers need what DLo brings during the regular season. He might only be a middle of the rotation innings eater, but when you top player is 40 and your #2 is a 31 year old with a long injury history, you need a middle of the rotation innings eater to get you through a long regular season.
So unless the Lakers can upgrade from DLo - and given their asset and cap situation those ways are limited - then the Lakers are better off keeping him. Use him to get you through the regular season. And remember, the Lakers signed Gabe Vincent to be the 3 and D guy they need in their closing playoff lineups in the backcourt with Reaves.

There's zero variation that D'Angelo Russell requires a FRP to salary. THJ was traded for Grimes and 3 SRPs. He's not a great player, but he's certainly not an albatross contract by any means.

I agree that DLo as an expiring and at his salary isn’t an albatross. However, if the request is for someone to completely absorb his contract without sending salary back, well, there’s only a few teams that can actually do that in mechanism and avoiding tax/cap issues, and they have no need for DLo specifically.
The specific ask is the problem. Not DLo.

Charlotte can eat an extra 7 million of Russell? And should be willing to.. that should be enough wiggle room to make the deal work..
Chicago has no reason to give up value to dump Zac (or DAR)

Detroit is now at $126.3M in salaries, over the salary floor (90% of the cap) after taking Paul Reed off the waiver wire. We also have the last year of dead cap from the waive-and-stretch of Dedmon in Weaver's first season as GM. That leaves Detroit with a little over $11M in cap space -- so we'd need to move off about $7M in space (either Reed or Fontecchio) in order to take DLo with space.
That said, I agree that I'd take DLo with the Portland FRP as long as that was the net haul i.e we didn't have to spend assets to create the space. So, probably not -- we took Paul Reed instead.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

Sure. I'm pretty sure we had more money still when I posted that. Best we could do now, I think, is do a THJ for DLo swap.
