Gary Trent Jr., Bucks Agree To One-Year Deal

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jul 16, 2024 7:28 pm

Gary Trent Jr. and the Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a one-year deal. Trent had a limited market as he and the Toronto Raptors were unable to agree to terms on a long-term contract over the past year. Trent is represented by Rich Paul and Lucas Newton

Trent will fill the vacancy created with the departure of Malik Beasley, who signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Detroit Pistons after playing on the minimum last season.

In 71 games last season, Trent averaged 13.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 39.3 percent on three-pointers in 28.1 minutes.

Not a big Trent fan, but this is a huge improvement over Beasley... and at the min! Surprised his market wasn't any bigger.

They offered him a multi-year deal at 15 mil per year. Do you think he should have gone higher?

Blame Adam Silver with this "apron" nonsense that has totally erased the popularity and excitement of the NBA off-season trades and free agency period. Every team is clutching their purses, and are only going to pay the elite of the elite players. In 3 three season you're gonna have rosters with 2 dudes making 70million per year, 1 or 2 mid level guys, and the remaining 11 players split about 25millon. League execs somehow calculated that elite guys chasing extentions is better than having them chase rings. We had teams willing to move whoever to build a winner, to keep their stars happy. Now the teams know all they have to do is offer a max that the other teams can't come close to matching. The award winning NBA drama tv show has been canceled.

He was asking for $25, and took $2.6, for the opportunity to play and the chance to be on a contender, keeping his name in front of other GMs for next year’s deal. But man, what a loss.

I hope MIN is on the phone with Tyus Jones, asking him where he’d like to spend the next year!
