Shams Charania's current contracts with The Athletic, Stadium and FanDuel will all expire within the next month or two, sources tell Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post. In 2022, Charania re-signed with Stadium and The Athletic, and added a third with FanDuel.
Charania has been with The Athletic since leaving Yahoo in 2018.
Charania's impending free agency comes amid a changing NBA media landscape with TNT on the verge of losing broadcast rights with NBC and Amazon beginning their partnerships with the 25-26 season.
