Clippers decide it is time to remake the team. They have zero picks for what seems like a decade. The decision is to move all money players out in exchange for youth and cap room next year.
Clippers trade Leonard/Powell
Pelicans trade McCollum/Ingram
Clippers are able to put Ingram and McCollum next to Harden. If they do not care to return any players, they are under $100m for the next year. If they convince Harden the team is not interested in winning, he may decline or request a trade for his $36m 26 salary.
The Pelicans on the other hand could do much worse than having Leonard as the mentor to Williamson and Murphy (and Jones).
Another move by the Clippers and they are under the tax.
When allowed:
Clippers trade Harden
Magic trade WCJ/Anthony/Da Silva
Magic get a scoring, play-making PG to team with Suggs and take some pressure off of Banchero/Wagner. The cost is role players plus Da Silva who will backing up the backup.
Clippers continue a cheap youth movement that will be needed with no picks until 2030.

Orlando would quickly hang up the phone.

Don't think Kawhi would report after this trade. He is not the type of player you trade for unless he gives the green light. But if Kawhi wanted to go to NOP then this would need a 3rd team here to offer value for Ingram.

No, you’re wrong.
They would not even pick up the phone because there is quite literally nothing Orlando would be interested from the Clippers.

Re: Clippers/Pelicans - Clippers/Magic
Is the issue Harden's attitude?
Because playing-wise he is better than any PG on the Magic. Those being traded from Orlando are 1 starter who is always on the trading block, a backup PG that has been drafted over multiple times, and a rookie who will be 3rd string until his rookie deal is done.

Orlando doesn’t need a ball dominant/high usage “point guard”.
They’re 100% committed in playing through Paolo/Franz and allowing them to do the majority of playmaking (two of the best forwards in the league in doing so) so it makes sense.
Furthermore, Hardens salary doesn’t work with what Orlando is trying to do flexibility wise.
Also, your last statement is incorrect. Jett will be competing for the backup SG position THIS season and has been playing his ass of this summer league so far.

Re: Clippers/Pelicans - Clippers/Magic
The Clippers have zero interest in rebuilding this year and they don't need too.
In 2026/27 they have only Kawhi signed and he will be expiring. Likely he will be traded then for some medium level assets and the Clips will have zero salary and a bunch of cap to play with to rebuild.
LA has their new top-tier stadium, the richest owner in all of sports and the best location in the country. They will have no problems fielding a great squad in a couple of years. For now, they roll with what they have and hope to still fill stadiums.
Clips are seriously under-rated right now. If Kawhi is healthy, they have a better squad than last year. PG is a fantastic player on paper, but elite stars are sometimes lazy and don't do the little things like defend and rebound. The team is now a defensive nightmare with DJJ, Dunn and Batum added. They have hungry players who want to win at all costs. They will still compete.
C = Zubac / Bamba / Kai--------------------------------> C = Zubac / Theis / Plumlee
PF = Kawhi / Batum / Kobe / Tucker------------------> PF = Kawhi / Tucker / Kobe
SF = DJJ / Mann / Coffey / Miller-----------VS--------> SF = George / Coffey
SG = KPJ / Norm / Christie-----------------------------> SG = Mann / Norm / Boston Jr
PG = Harden / Dunn / Bones---------------------------> PG = Harden / Russ / Bones

Jett's behind the following 4 guards: KCP Suggs Cole & Harris. Jett will likely see plenty of minutes because Suggs/Harris are fit to miss 10-20 games a year. I fully expect Cole to be moved by the deadline which could open up more time. However, Jett is very well 3rd team... for now.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.
