Okoro for DFS
BRK trades: Dorian Finney-Smith, 2nds(s)?
CLE trades: Isaac Okoro, 2nd(s)?
Brooklyn swaps DFS for a younger player who can be part of their long-term core. Cleveland swaps Okoro for a perimeter defender with more size. Does this need 2nds to balance either way?

Okoro for DFS was already tried at start of FA by the actual teams.
It was said to have fallen apart because Nets didn't want to go in to tax. I assume Okoro wants a lot.of money.

So, perhaps Cleveland sends some 2nds so Brooklyn can dump an expiring player on Detroit (Williams?)? I assume Okoro's price had gone down since the beginning of summer.

Yeah you'd hope so. I don't even know if the pick compensation is needed. Seems to be about Okoro contract. If it starts at $15m then it should get done

Cleveland doesn't want to go into the tax either so it will need the few seconds it has to shed at least part of Niang's salary if they take back DFS. I'm not sure Okoro's salary expectations were the hold up tbh.

Removing Niangs salary will be hard I think. Needs a 3rd team.

Re: Okoro for DFS
CLE trades: Okoro, LeVert
in: DFS, Schroder
Cleveland gets a bigger wing defender and cuts some salary relative to paying Okoro (depending on what he is paid).
BRK trades: DFS, Schroder, 2nd(s)
in: Okoro, Reed, Moore
Brooklyn gets younger, probably works this to be approx. salary-neutral.
DET trades: Reed, Moore
in: LeVert, 2nd(s)
Detroit gets a better player than they trade who offers some floor spacing for their young guys.

Right, and they'll want seconds.

Why do the Nets do this?

I would only consider this for Cleveland as a consolation prize, where Okoro makes it clear he wants to play elsewhere. Otherwise, I'd rather just extend Okoro.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Okoro isn't a guy you build a winner around, not even as a starter. I'd rather have some teams 1st.

Each teams sends a 2nd to DET who takes Niang, Okoro gets ~15M starting salary, both teams stay out of tax.

DFS was made available at the prior two drafts and last season's deadline. Perhaps a decent first isn't being offered.

No thanks as it is. Some team has to take Moore, need better picks. I don’t think we’re desperate to eat up the remaining cap space for a player that’s going to have to compete with a bunch of younger guys for playing time. He’s not good enough to really improve the team

Re: Okoro for DFS
The Nets seem to be holding on pretty tight to future cap space, and Okoro likely wants a sizeable long term deal. I don't think Brooklyn likes him enough to make that sort of commitment.
