The New York Yankees plan to activate Clarke Schmidt from the 60-day injured list to start on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.
Schmidt has made three Minor League rehab appearances, reaching 4 2/3 innings on 70 pitches in Double-A on Monday. The right-hander has been out since late May due to a lat strain.
Before the injury, Schmidt was enjoying a breakout season. He had a 2.52 ERA and 27% strikeout rate through his first 60 2/3 innings in 2024.
