Trade Offers for White/Ayo

Post#1 » by leo921 » Thu Sep 19, 2024 12:27 am

Wanted to hear and see what kinda trade offers might be out there for White and Ayo.
I would want to keep both of them but there really good players on a cheap 2 year deal
and will be expensive to resign as both have really improved.

My breakdown of both

White - 24 yrs old with 2 years and 24m left on contract. Shooting/Combo Guard.
Massively improved his ball handling and pick and roll. Great shooter who can get hot
quickly. Solid passer as well. Did well even when facing more defensive attention.

Would work really well playing stars. Some places that I think he would do amazing in.
Playing off of Kyrie/Donic, Denver off Jokic/Murray, Lakers off Lebron/Davis, think he
would really help space the floor for Detroit and help Cade. 76ers with the attention of
Embidd/Maxey/George, Hornets playing off Ball/Miller, Heat off Butler/Abaymo

Ayo - 25 years old 2yrs 14m left of contract. PG but can guard 1-3 very switchable.
Great going downhill and pushing the tempo, attacks the baskets, has improved greatly
as a 3 pt shooter. Needs to improve his mid range game.

Can either be your starting PG or be your 6th man playing PG/SG

What would you offer to the Bulls?

I'd offer Kessler and Clarkson for Ayo and expiring filler. Nor sure the Jazz would, but we have a ton of guards and none play defense. I think he compliments the guys we have long term, and IF the FO is truly looking to move Kessler, I like him as a target.

I really like White for ORL…I haven’t actually watched, but it sounds like he had a breakout year with the ball in his hands after years of meh…then they traded for an intriguing kid who, it seems, can’t do anything without the ball in his hands…wtf is going on in CHI? (This isn’t even their biggest directional issue)

First I'll say that I can't see what the Bulls want in return for trading either of them.

Goal one ongoing is to trade Zach Lavine. Let's say the Bulls manage that before during or even after the season. They need to replace their #1 scorer. Look at the constant Laker offers, expiring contracts and role players at best. No draft pick is going to be that guy, the most likely candidate is Coby White. Dosunmu as stated is 25 years old, played 3 years in college, is no longer a kid that needs to find out what he can do. He can do it what he needs is for the Bulls to determine what his role is and have him grow slightly in every aspect of his game with more and consistent minutes.

Goal two is to see how this roster looks without Demar DeRozan, and maybe without Zach Lavine if he gets traded. Everybody except Vucevic deferred to the veteran DeRozan on offense, slowing the pace and covering for him on defense. How much of White, Dosunmu and Williams' games were held back by them giving up their speed and youth to allow Demar to walk the ball up and get to his mid range shot? How much more can those three do if they don't have to wait and watch for the veteran to make his move?

Goal three is decide how long are they waiting on the future. They just got Josh Giddey as their passing PG, he's due an extension. They just signed Patrick Williams for 5 years. They brought in Josh Smith as a FA. White and Dosunmu have 2 more years. Julian Phillips is in year 2, they drafted Matas Buzelis in the lottery. Those guys, even with Lavine and Vucevic still around, are the short term core that are young enough to build around. If you trade White or Dosunmu on what timeline are the players you get back? Draft picks push the timeline back.

So you can trade either White or Dosunmu but what do the Bulls get back and how does the return adjust the timeline then if they do trade Lavine, how does what they get in return for him match what they got for either of the two younger guys?

For the most part I agree with you. In an ideal world we would trade Lavine and Vuc and really focus on our young guys
and see what we have. We have to live in reality though, we dont know for sure if or when we can trade Lavine. We might
have to keep him all year which is going to impact Ayo/White and everyone else.

The other issue is that yes I agree White/Ayo are amazing but there value will never be higher as they are on super
cheap contracts for this year and next then you have to resign them. Quickly just got a long term contract at 35m
a year, are you prepared to give similar money to White? Do you want to resign Ayo for 20-25m a year? I love both of
these guys and want them long term but we need to be realistic about the cost and how that plays out down the line.

So yes I feel like we can at least explore the options and if the Bulls get a great deal, possible high picks/good young prospect/
big expiring/maybe as a Lavine add on that brings back expirings/picks/prospects we should at least look at it.

Chicago trades White/Ayo
Brooklyn trades Johnson/ 2 SRPs

Chicago gets a shooter to put on the edge wit Giddey/LaVine/Williams.

Nets get 2 younger players at low cost to run with

For both Ayo/White I would need 1 of the Suns picks in return so

Johnson/Suns pick for Ayo/White

I think White individually is more valuable than Johnson and Ayo has about the same value. Can't see this at all.

Not sure it would be enough for the Bulls to let him go, but Id do Cole and a couple of 1sts for White for sure. Solid player on a good contract and does a lot of what the Magic need. He'd be a great 6th man.
