Should we be concerned that Hart is essentially scoreless in pre-season?

Post#1 » by sol537 » Mon Oct 14, 2024 5:25 pm

Like, dude's not even looking at the basket most of the time... I get that that it's pre-season and maybe he's a bit bummed over losing his friend DDV and that he's trying to make sure his fellow starters (the "Big 4") are eating on offense, but he's going to have to attack openings to keep defenses offense.

Hart should be able to be highly efficient on offense this season because he's going to get a ton of open looks and open lanes. He's just gotta be very opportunistic with the starters and then rev it up when the bench comes in and go into attack mode during those minutes.

Which Josh Hart will we get this season? The one that came out firing after the initial trade and during the Philly playoff series or the hesitant Jost Hart?

My concern level right now: 6 out of 10.

Honestly, yes.

He's coming off as a "locker room guy" lately, which is a nice way of saying his shot is broken with no signs of coming back.

I guess Thibs gives him 5 games as a starter before, perhaps, going to Precious as the starter with Hart as the main 6th man still getting his usual minutes?

To me he is just surveying the field. Theirs been multiple plays where I think he knows he can drive and score or make an open shot but turned it down ultimately.

Hart is playing chess out there

It's tricky. If he can't score with the first unit, I'm not sure he's the guy we want with the 2nd unit.

He can still start. But maybe redo the rotations where he's basically a 6th man.

I also think KAT can still play PF if/when Mitch returns. I'm not sure how I feel about KAT being our "lone bigman" since he's been accustomed playing to the DPOY (Gobert) for 2 years now.

OG is also injury prone, and guarding bigger guys at the 4 is probably not good for his body.

That could work too. Make Hart a 6th man .

But honestly, I'm worried unless his fixes his shot. We saw him last post-season laugh off some of his bad shooting games. But if we really want to move forward, he's gotta start getting easy buckets. This isn't a laughing mater.

I mean, Hart shot great in the Philly series. It's in there... somewhere.

He probably has a bet that the Knicks can win all their preseason games without him scoring.

If you put any stock into the podcast, I'm sure he doesn't even care if he scores. A brand new team, new big time feature players, I'm more curious how they gel whether or not Hart hits a three.

What if teams just stop defending him at all and he forgets what it feels like to score...

We are fortunate that jHart is the worst 3 point shooter in the the starting lineup.

Hart's job is to defend, rebound and push in transition, and help facilitate so I'm not concerned at all. It's also preseason
