Do you think Wemby has a plausible chance to be better than Giannis next season?

Unlikely.

A little too early, but I can see Wemby challenging Top 10 next year.

Wouldn't bet on it, because I don’t think you would realistically choose Wemby over Giannis for the playoffs.

I imagine Wemby will need to adjust to the increased physicality in his second season, and that might not happen quickly. He still gets knocked off his spots too easily and doesn’t have the quickness to consistently beat defenders off the dribble. His handle is impressive for his height, but it’s not elusive enough for him to be a reliable creator at this juncture.

Presuming health I think he'll be roughly as good as Giannis by year 4 almost for sure and better in year 5 which is when he might start winning mvps. Obviously Giannis' age is going to start catching up with him as well within a few years.

Hard to envision, presuming Giannis is healthy. The offensive gap is humongous.

It is possible Wemby makes a big leap bit Giannis is an efficient volume scorer, and that's more a goal foe down the line with Wemby.

Pretty unlikely. He could however come with something new, and get to a ridiculous hot start before the NBA adjusts midseason and brings him back down to earth. Something that's been known to happen for young guys.

But better than Giannis? Not this year.

I'm curious to see if he'll top 17 Jokic. I think Jokic was at least as good as a rookie as Wemby, he just had no playing time. I think second year Jokic took a big step up and was an elite guy in a low minutes role.

Healthy giannis was my top 1 player in the league last year in regular season so prolly not yet

Also when did people seemingly decide giannis now belonged on a lower tier among the league top p1 contenders?

Assuming Giannis is healthy very very low. Giannis in my eyes has the GOAT motor for size which by definition can run into problems health wise as happening recently

Look ill be honest this is the 4th year of watching Wemby (since junior play) and still haven't been impressed at all on one side of the ball.

If you want my deepest thoughts I don't have him in the top 3 prospects that I've looked and followed.

Now potential/ceiling all that aside I do honestly think its between the ears with him.

To me age doesn't play a role. The greatest of players were really really awesome really really quickly.

Maybe I'm being too harsh because his ceiling in theory is astronomical but I do have to judge it as such in terms of critique.

I did personally have an ugly feeling in the first 10 or so games when he was leaking out/cheating and not even running weaves properly. Alarm bells went off right there and then of course it got nipped in the bud right quick but that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I tend to agree that he's become semi overlooked in the last two years but he does need a deep playoff run to reestablish himself in the pecking order. Also needs to get his ft shooting back up to over 70%.
