Has Kyrie Irving Repaired His Image?

Definitely a subjective question depending where you stand with Kyrie but for me, ever since he left the Cavs, his behavior has been off putting. I won't get into all the different instances or examples but I know whenever Kyrie was on the court I would have a negative reaction to him and typically want him to lose.
I would put him in the same bucket as a Embiid, Harden etc.
Yesterday when watching the Mavs vs Phx game, I noticed myself rooting for him and admiring his game once again and I thought to myself, Kyrie had done a 180 with his image and has shown maturity since he's gotten to Dallas.
Has anyone else has this similar thought? Could you remember another player who has done a great job in repairing their image?

He hasn't had any big controversies lately. He hasn't left his team for undisclosed reasons. He isn't a Net. There isn't a huge pandemic and a controversial medical/political morals battle happening anymore. He isn't even being sighted burning sage or making any counter-culture moves. His game is beautiful and always has been. He's one of the best players of this generation and that has always been the case no matter what.
So really, who knows? Not much is happening in the world to trigger him. And I'm guessing his personal life is contained or content. All I know is he's back to doing what we all love seeing him do.

He's been an upstanding citizen and teammate in Dallas. Literally all DAL players gush about his leadership and kindness in the locker room.
His image may not ever be fully repaired but he's done everything positive he could have done to repair it since arriving in Dallas.

LeBron coming back to Cavs and help them won their 1st NBA title coming back from 3-1 deficit against the 73-win Warriors and ended Cleveland's championship drought in 52 years.

Dennis Rodman was known as a dirty player on the Pistons who tried to kill himself in the parking lot and kicked a cameraman and flamed out on the Spurs to one of the most popular people on the planet in 1996.
Kobe was known for shooting the Lakers out of a series and having a rape trial and never winning a championship without Shaq to having more rings than Shaq and being a champion for Women’s basketball.

no, but I'll give him this. The league's better with a health Irving playing and not being a locker room cancer on the court at least. But nah...dude's still a loon and I wouldn't want him on my team nor would I root for him.

Repairing something suggests active contribution, Kyrie just stopped talking, which is a passive act. If something, he has frozen his image, that slowly get thawed as people forget.

Nobody's talked about his hate crimes lately, so I'd say things have improved substantially.

He hasn't done anything stupid in a while and that's good. Doesn't change the past though and likely hasn't changed the man

I concur.
I have been thankful he's done this in Dallas, which i hoped for, and mentioned on these boards before his first game.

I don't think fans here get that most players and people close to him think Kyrie is a good person who tries hard to be that. The stupid/weird stuff he's said isn't just random hate he's indulging in cuz it's fun, it's part of his effort to figure out what to stand for.
Are you for your people? and Do you show up? tend to be what people get judged for in Kyrie's community. If you're doing that, people will generally be very generous with your mistakes. And people actually respect that Kyrie cost himself to say 'I aint no monkey ball player who follows orders blind' more than they blast him for being impractical (and ignorant at times) or not getting how the world works.
I don't know about the general public and outside world, but I'm good with him and hope he can lean away from his 'let me be controversial about the wrong things' and more towards some more grounded perspectives. Actually think there's a really good chance he'll be a good/positive influence in the future.

I never followed Kyrie before he came to Dallas. So I never really cared much, but here are my 2cents.
Nietzsche's quote, "What does not kill you makes you stronger," is often taken literally. However, what he meant was that when you stand for something and hold your ground, you come out stronger for it. Kyrie stood firm in his beliefs (covid), despite facing a wave of criticism, and he's doing well now. While I don’t necessarily agree with his stance, I have a lot of respect for his commitment to his principles and his refusal to back down.
I have always believed the media, but sadly over the years learned that media is not reliable. So seeing him now in Dallas and how well he is doing I take what the media has written with a grain of salt. Especially seeing how young players love him. Not just Dallas players, but from other teams. There are a lot of things going on in the background of the NBA and it is very clear to me that other players love Kyrie.

Was crucified (no pun intended) for acts that weren't physical, abusive nor even a crime at all.
So if someone like Miles bridges, even the late great Kobe can skate through a serious domestic debacle then of course a basketball maestro like Kyrie will dazzle the masses enough for a lot of em to forget or just stop caring.
Winning cures all and it helps when you're as good and flashy as a Kyrie.
We also live in a what have you done for me lately league AND world. Kyrie's buffoonish statements are old news as the freshest memory is of him participating in the finals.
