The San Diego Padres and Mike Shildt are finalizing a two-year contract extension that will keep the manager with the club through the 2027 season.
Shildt enjoyed a successful first season with the Padres. He had just one year remaining on his deal.
The Padres had 93 wins, including a 43-19 stretch to end the season, and made the playoffs under the first-year manager.
Shildt arrived in San Diego in 2022, serving as an adviser in the organization and working with the team at multiple levels.
