Bucks rebuild through Rockets, Heat, Grizzlies, Jazz, Lakers

Post#1 » by louc1970 » Wed Nov 13, 2024 6:18 pm

Before it is said, no, none of these trades will happen.

Looking at several of the Bucks trade scenarios posted by others, decided to put some of them together. Without convoluting with who gets picks, and throwing filler where needed -----

On Dec 15, the trades are:

Heat trade Herro, Robinson, Richardson
Bucks trade Lillard
Fanspro Heat +2
Heat wanted Lillard, they get him. Bucks gets a younger Herro.
________________________________________________________________________
Rockets trade Smith, Brooks, Eason, Whitmore
Bucks trade Giannis
Rockets go all in and take the 2nd best player in the league for some of the youth (Smith/Eason).
Bucks figure they are not winning, don't have many picks, trade off their best player for a youth movement.
________________________________________________________________________
Grizzlies trade Kennard, Smart
Grizzlies get Middleton
Experienced SF to go with Grizzlies 4. Other players can pick up what Smart offers.

Jazz trade Sexton
Jazz get Smart
Jazz get a more mature player to help Markkanen, teach George.

Bucks trade Middleton
Bucks get Sexton
Sexton is a scorer and can handle the PG spot well enough, especially teamed up with another part time PG in Herro.
____________________________________________________________________
Lakers trade Hachimura, JHS, Hayes
Bucks trade Lopez
Lakers get a spread the floor big to play with AD and James
Bucks get another potential scorer in Hachimura.

When all is said and done, Bucks move forward with:
Herro, Sexton, Smith, Eason, Hachimura, Whitmore, Robinson, any picks coming in.

Figure if the Bucks are not going to win this year, likelihood goes down next year as Lillard and Middleton age, get what you can for the team.

Happy to trade for Giannis, but I doubt we move Eason. Almost assuredly would be a Sengun package.

And we must have a no brainer contender with the remainder of the roster.

You're not going to get me to take Lilard voluntarily, but this is the type of deal that makes sense for Miami, at least.

I just don't see Dame as the guy who put us over the top or even moves the needle much at this point, so I'd probably pass as it would kill our cap for the next few years and I don't see the juice as being worth the squeeze...

Moving Dame or Khris or Brook is possible but Bucks will not under any circumstances trade Giannis, give up on the idea until the day you hear he's demanding it in the media. That Bucks team would be ultra terrible and wouldn't have any picks for years, none of those guys are guys you can build around its not even remotely close. These threads should be locked.

I agree with everything but the last line. I think the Giannis trade should just be removed, personally. Everything else should be up for discussion.

Rockets moving Jabari, Whitmore, Eason and Brooks for Giannis, I could definitely see.

That would leave us with;

1. FVV
2. Jalen Green
3. ??? (Amen Thompson?)
4. Giannis?
5 Sengun

With a bench unit of Adams, Sheppard, Holiday, Landale, Tate.

I'd probably try my best to keep Eason and add more picks instead, if possible.

At this point, I'm looking to trade Yimmy. The window is closed, and I would not commit to the type of money he is looking for on this team. It would not make sense to send one of our bright spots away for another dude who is almost out the door.

Memphis is not taking the corpse of Middleton without any incentive

Rule against aggravating salary kills most of these deals.
Detroit has ten million in cap space. Everyone else is over.
Most of the teams with trade exceptions are right at or over luxury tax to the point they can’t use the trade exceptions until after the season.

For instance, NO needs a center and has a $9 mil Tpe. Houston could send Landale (who is bouncing back a bit but not needed due to Adams) for a protected second but salary restrictions kill it.

I'd want a first to swap Sexton for Smart. Smart is washed and he is just another guard we don't need.

The picks probably have to be the greatest haul of quality unprotected 1st's and swaps ever in the history of NBA trades, because that "core" is going absolutely nowhere now or in the near future while the Bucks give up lottery picks to New Orleans and Portland until the year 2030. Obviously none of this is even remotely adequate for the Bucks to actually consider pulling the trigger on a Giannis trade, and that's before we get into the weeds of, as others have pointed out, most of this being illegal under the CBA/apron restrictions.

"Smith, Brooks, Eason, Whitmore"

you really need to exchange smith with sengun here...

that package won't net you giannis in the open market. i think presti outbids this with jalen williams, dort, plus the 4 best frps OKC has in draft nights the next 4 years, and it's not nearly the best thing market has to offer for a titan like giannis.

Giannis and Sengun is a no brainer contender. Go ahead and give up Green, Eason, and Amen Thompson (I don't think you are competitive with other offers with less) and you still have a legit contender if Sheperd is anything like expectation to give you the spacing your bigs need. Sengen for Eason is still top talent but not sure you want to be starting Giannis at center to allow Eason to play.

Amen and Eason aren't going anywhere.

Sengun and Giannis cannot share the court together, it would never work.

I would think New Orleans would be a perfect Lopez destination. He has the perfect skill set next to Zion with his rim protection and 3 point shooting.

The bigger question is how to come up with a deal that makes Milwaukee better. I would assume the deal would be built around one of Herb Jones or Trey Murphy along with some draft capital. I could see this being interesting for Milwaukee if they can make it a 2 for 1 using the pick/salary savings to add another rotation piece.
