Stephen Curry: Winning Fifth Ring 'Only Thing I'm Really Playing For At This Point'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Nov 20, 2024 7:38 pm

Stephen Curry continues to be one of the NBA's best players at the age of 36 and he recently said that potentially winning a fifth championship is what drives him.

“Honestly, it’s the only thing I'm really playing for at this point,” Curry said on the NBC Sports Bay Area’s “Dubs Talk,” which debuted Wednesday. “It's the only thing that matters in the sense of accomplishment.”

The Warriors last won a title in 2022 and reached the second round in 2023. In 2024, the Warriors lost to the Sacramento Kings in the play-in.

“I still love to play the game,” Curry said. “I still love to come to work every day. Basketball is still fun for me. The challenge of trying to figure out how to win on a nightly basis, I still get up for it.”

If Curry were to win a fifth ring, he would join Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Magic Johnson as part of that exclusive club.

“All that goes into the obsession of trying to be the best basketball player that I can be,” Curry said, “and trying to lift my team up and have them lift me up to be able to be relevant in that conversation.

“And then, obviously, in the historical realm of basketball, there is another level. You talk about five-time champions and beyond that. It's a good place to start from, but I definitely want to get greedy.”

If he won a title this year it would surpass his accomplishment of 2022 I am assuming he would have to win finals mvp to win.. But this year would be even better than 2022 I think the competition is better if he beat this version of the celtics in a 7 game series with this warriors team yeah it pushes his case wayyyy higher.. I don't think he will but if he did it would be incredible.

I am sure warriors glad they got rid of klay Thompson. Klay Thompson was holding warriors with his gdamn contract and with all his misses whether missing games or missing all his shots
