Ketel Marte didn\'t win the National League MVP award, but had plenty of reason to celebrate on Thursday.
Marte finished third in voting, behind unanimous winner Shohei Ohtani and second-place finisher Francisco Lindor.
An incentive clause in his contract was triggered with the finish, bumping his 2025 base salary from $16 million to $19 million. He signed an extension with the Arizona Diamondbacks back in 2022.
Marte\'s contract guaranteed a $2 million bump the next season following a fourth-through-seventh place MVP finish, and a $3 million bump if he finished third or higher.
