This is something I want to see as well. Poeltl congests the lane despite bringing all the positives he does. I feel that it is by design to push Barnes into being a mid range and three point shot creator. Barnes, Dick, and IQ should be pumping up more threes.

Boston has shown that the math maths. Chuck them threes. Doesn't hurt that we're the best offensive rebounding team in league...
In between his 10 threes a game should be a bunch of shots at the rim though.

Makes sense. The logic seems to be that A) Barnes should shoot more to build confidence, and B) it will open up his game and the team tremendously.

Boucher should stop shooting them. Stop him by trading him.

Re: [Will Lou] We asked Darko Rajakovic if he's comfortable with Scottie Barnes taking over 7 threes a game sin
To be honest I've been very impressed with Barnes.
He had injury before training camp and then broke his orbital bone early on which I can only imagine has been very frustrating. His shooting percentages aren't what they should be yet, but he's doing everything on the court.
Averaging 21ppg, 9rpg and 6apg is nothing to scoff at and I expect these numbers to go up as the season goes on and he gets back into rhythm.
We are looking a guy that can be a perennial near triple double threat. I expect him to be a guy who can average 25, 9 and 8 in his prime...there are only a handful of players...Jokic, Doncic, Lebron, Shai, Tatum, KD that can put up those numbers.

Go nuts this year but when we start trying to win next year, you bet your ass there will be uproar if he doesn't at least become league average.

Can you ask him about Boucher and Mitchell taking 3s with like > 15 on the clock?

Re: [Will Lou] We asked Darko Rajakovic if he's comfortable with Scottie Barnes taking over 7 threes a game sin
One of the most important numbers for me regarding Scottie is FT attempts. It's a key indicator regarding his aggression.
21/22: 2.9 attempts
22/23: 3.2 attempts
23/24: 4.2 attempts
24/25: 5.9 attempts
He's been trending up year over year and he's made a noticeable jump this year.
10 FT + 10 3PT a game should be the goal.

Not a huge concern this season but I think he should cap them at 5 moving forward while increasing 3 pt attempts from better 3 pt shooters. Scottie's value is elsewhere. It's his 4th season now, realistically maybe his upside is only an average perimeter shooter.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

who cares how many he takes at this point. let him find himself, the goal should be development and a respectable 3pt shot would open up his game a lot.

Sweet spot for me would be to push the entire team to get more motion based GSW style C&S 3s, where I think Barnes has a lot of potential. Green light on anything open.
While Jak is here, test out the the pull-up 3s at a high clip too. 7 is the minimum for all 3s combined, not the max in a development year.

The # does not bother me as much as the type.
When he does those dribble down the floor pull ups with 18 on the clock it drives me nuts. As a teammate I assume it drives them nuts to (We have all played with "that guy" who shoots a horrible % and takes those shots, but we all know that same guy taking an open c+s 3 doesn't bug you the same way).
Scottie IMO should be relegated to catch and shoot or late clock pull ups. Its (likely) never gonna be his game so I dont want to enforce poor habits

I remember yrs ago, Dwane, Fred, and Norm wanted Pascal to shoot more 3s when he was developing. So yeah, good.

Yup coming down and jacking a terrible shot in transition is killer to the momentum of the team

He's shooting .273 from 3 on the year. C&S 35%, roughly 4 3PA/g. Pull up, 7%, roughly 1.5 3PA/g.
No one is going to guard him with the ball in his hands above the break unless he brings that 2nd figure up.

Lol, omg, STOP pulling up for 3, Scottie.

A lot of people seem to think that 3pt shooting is scalable. If Barnes is taking 10 3's a lot of those shots are going to be terrible. To get to 10 3's you're looking at some coming off pin down falling sideways type 3's and those will be horrible shots for Barnes. Barnes just doesn't have the game right now to be taking a high volume of 3's.

Re: [Will Lou] We asked Darko Rajakovic if he's comfortable with Scottie Barnes taking over 7 threes a game sin
Scottie's mid-range game is literally unstoppable. I wish he would take more because it keeps the opposing defense honest and it lowers the teams turnovers overall. Plus Jak has proved his reliability around the rim when it comes to O rebounds and put backs.
I'm fine with more threes as well its just the long rebounds kill us because our transition D sucks.

Re: [Will Lou] We asked Darko Rajakovic if he's comfortable with Scottie Barnes taking over 7 threes a game sin
This is basic, it's a developmental area for Scottie so he'll keep pushing his comfort zone to maximize any potential ceiling with respect to shooting 3s.
Honestly this is a great example of what focusing on development over results actually looks like. If this was a veteran team, he'd have a more focused shot profile, and a lot of other guys wouldn't be pushing boundaries either.
You have to do this, the potential payoff is too big. We've seen this a lot with Gradey - would you leave him on an island to guard opposing SGs and SFs in the playoffs where you expect to make a run this year? No, you do it last year, this year etc. so getting cooked repeatedly helps him learn.
To Scottie's credit, he's not afraid to let it fly, which is something scouts look for when trying to project.
