WAS trades: Kyle Kuzma, Marvin Bagley, 2025 PHX 2nd, 2026 CHI 2nd, 2027 GSW 2nd
NOP trades: Brandon Ingram
Washington takes a look at Ingram. If they don't like him as a long-term piece they open up a ton of cap room by letting him walk. New Orleans gets some 2nds and a rotation player (Kuzma) who can fill in for when Zion misses games and play a few minutes at small forward next to him. I really think Kuzma sucks, but this at least gets some 2nds, a 6th man, and preserves a tradeable salary.

Easy pass from the Wizards in this state. We are in a full on tank. We do not need increased production from Ingram, or the cap space he would create by leaving. The purpose of the Wiz in any Ingram trade is to 1) provide NOP with a cheaper/locked up replacement ,and 2) Take on additional salary to get NOP below the tax.
The trade would need to be Kuzma, cheap filler (J. Davis) to NOP. Ingram to a third team, bad contract plus picks to DC.
No other Ingram/Kuz iteration really makes sense.

If Washington was hovering around the play-in, I could see them considering an Ingram/Kuzma swap.

If we suddenly went on a 10 game winning streak we would be hovering around the play-in. So far, we're challenging historic levels of suck.

Ingram isn't resigning in washington, so this is them dumping salary for 3 seconds. They really don't need cap space at this stage of the rebuild. They aren't signing anyone good, so it would just be them eating some future salary to replace the seconds they just sent out.

Exactly. This only works as a 3-way where the Wizards flip Ingram to a 3rd team and get back bad contracts and pick capital.
Of course, if there was a team willing to trade bad contracts and picks for Ingram, New Orleans would probably just make that deal and cut out Washington.

I don’t really like it for either team. Why would Washington want to downgrade their beautiful tank. Why would NO want Kuzma?
