Another BKN Rebuild

Post#1 » by Xman » Wed Dec 11, 2024 8:36 pm

So, BKN is doing too well. Time to burn it down - but build with prospects.

1) Deal CamJ
ATL gets Randle
Minny gets CamJ, Clowney, Sharpe, ZWilliams, SAC 2025 1st (pro 12, 10, 2nd)
BKN gets Capela (exp), Nance (exp), Dillingham.
ATL gets a veteran pf to boost offense. Minny gets CamJ plus the backups it needs - losing Dillingham hurts. Originally had the headed to BKN but really feel Dillingham is strong. BKN gets the young pg prospect it needs.

2) Deal Schroder
stole this from a post a few days ago -
OKC gets Schroder
BKN gets Dieng, KWilliams, 2015 Top 15 protected first (best of the plethora if conveyed to OKC).
- OKC sends a mid to low first to boost for the playoffs. BKN gets another pick.

3) Deal DFS
DFS to SA for Barnes, or to SAC for Huerter, etc.
Try to get two or three future seconds.

4) Try to get that 2027 swap to HOU back. I would offer to help facilitate any potential Houston deals.

Keep CamThomas and Claxton

Draft:
current position - 15 (think this gets better moving CJ - maybe 8-10 range with better odds of top 4), 18, 23, 26, 41, 49.

PG - Dillingham, Milton, (draft #41)
SG - CamThomas, KeonJ, (draft best available if decent one in mid first - like Riley or IanJackson)
SF - (draft; one or more of - McNeeley, Essengue, HugoGonzales, Thiero), Whitehead
PF - (draft; one or more of - Broome, Newell, Boyles, Toppin), JWilson
C - Claxton, (draft backup at pick #49), sign cheap veteran

Cheap players on contract for another year: Whitehead, Milton,
Team option: KeonJ, JalenW

Cap:
Claxton 25.3
CamThomas QO of 6 - so estimating 20.5 on extention?
Dillingham 6.6
Whitehead 3.2
Milton 3
KeonJ 2.3
JalenW 2.2
Dieng 6.7
KWilliams 7.1
Four firsts and two seconds - maybe 23?
Total: Less than $100 million for 15 spots.
Instead of keeping KeonJ or JalenW, could sign a decent player or two (maybe like WAS with the JVal signing - especially if Was deals JVal for something decent).
Also, with new rules, it seems like cap space is going to be worth more so might be a good idea to hold back as much as possible for deals. Reasoning behind hold cap space - right now, DET is only team with space and new rules require many teams to take back less in any deal. So, teams need to dump people if not perfect match or a TPE is there (I think there will be less TPEs, especially those big enough to matter doe to new rules).

The Hawks are finally playing something resembling team defense. I don't see them being interested in trading for Randle. I don't see any team offering more than nuetral value for him.

If the Nets are that high on Dillingham, something can probably be worked out without involving Randle.

If OKC is interested in Schroeder, I don't see them sending Dieng and a first.

Third trade involves Brooklyn taking back future money which is something they're reportedly telling trade partners they're not interested in doing.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I don't see Randle returning Johnson, Clowney, Sharpe and a first. Even with Dillingham included. I also expect the Nets fans to be pretty mad that said trio only returns Dillingham.

OKC might consider it but don't see it for them, and I think it'll take more than a couple seconds for the Nets to turn DFS into Huerter. Not that I like it for Sac either.

Yeah, I prefer DFS to SA.
I might be overvaluing dillingham but he seems like a great acquisition for bkn. Can reroute the first to bkn.

Does Schroeder even play for OKC? Caruso can only get 20 mpg there, and when Chet comes back and plays some PF and pushes everyone else down, there's gonna already be a roster crunch.

I doubt he would play.

Dilly cost us an unprotected 31 1st and a pick swap top 1 protected in 30. The Wolves also have literally no other PGs in the pipeline. The only way we move Dilly is for profit, and not a tiny amount. Is anyone really gonna overpay for Dilly to the tune of an unprotected first, an unprotected swap, a blue chip, and either another unprotected first or an equally promising rookie PG? I don’t see it, and frankly I doubt Dilly moves in the next 5 years.

First, kudos for taking a big swing!

I won’t talk about whether Randle fits in ATL, or what his value is, but in this deal, ATL is paying Capela, Nance and a SAC 1st. I agree with winforlose that the Wolves, specifically GM Tim Connelly, seems enamored with Dillingham, and he would be an unlikely player to be in a trade. I’m not thrilled with Cam defensively, but the shooting always helps a team with Gobert. Anyway, this deal is a 1-for-4 for the Wolves, so they would need to release several players - some that are young and may be interesting to the Nets? BRK has that big Bogdonavic TPE to absorb players as well. I’m curious if MIN could hold onto Dillingham, but reach enough value with a package of youth, such as Josh Minnot, Leonard Miller, TJ Shannon (#27 pick) and that incoming SAC pick? I could understand though is BRK needed a bigger name like Dilly to sell their fans on a deal that gives up Cam.

This is horrible for BK. Please remove Clowney and CamJo and they might consider it. If not, remove BK.
