Where can Lavine thrive ?
I think he can be similar to what Caris Levert is for the Cavs on a solid playoff team.

Re: Where can Lavine thrive ?
He's really too expensive to have a role like LaVert on Cleveland. He'd need to be a 2nd option, maybe 3rd.

Where can he thrive ?
I think he's a little better then the second guy off the bench of the best team.
However he's a dude who needs certain pieces around him to Thrive. Which i\If you could have Ayo be respectable from 3 to the point it draws off the hard attention Lavine gets
Realisticly he's not a huge downgrade on Garland If you have Mitchell as well on play V play. Just a lot more expensive and defensive lapses

Right where he is. Paid like a superstar, doesn't bring any intangibles to the table. Chicago is literally begging him to be worth the money.

Bulls have been trying to trade him 15 years in a row. Nobody wants him for that $.

Yeah... a member of the 3 headed monster. He wont get the opponents best defender om him so he can feast. Also, the other 4 players with him can cover his slack defensively.

Wow that's literally the perfect team for him. Provides offense at the guard spot where KCP has struggled and sometimes Suggs as well. His lack of D won't matter as much since Orlando has plenty of that in spades.

Chicago doesn't need to beg any player since they always rank in the top 5 in attendance.Chuck Everett wrote:Right where he is. Paid like a superstar, doesn't bring any intangibles to the table. Chicago is literally begging him to be worth the money.

Re: Where can Lavine thrive ?
Orlando would be good but they would have to give up so much of their good depth to get him. But then again if they can keep Franz and Paolo I still would roll the dice on that big 3.
Another team is Denver imo. I know others would say this is too much but I would’ve traded Murray/MPJ for Lavine. I think Lavine’s ceiling is still untapped a little it’s just he’s been on mediocre/bad team for most of his career the motivation might not be there. Put him on a team with a legitimate shot and I think he’ll shine.

I think you need the following three things.
#1 Defensive big, rim protector.
#2 Defensive wing that can always defend opposing team's best player.
#3 Shooters who can space the floor.
I think Orlando, Houston, OKC, and San Antonio would be his best potential fits to cover up some of his short comings.

My first thought, Orlando need perimeter scorer, they can hide his weaknesses.

Thats way too harsh, When I watch Bulls, hes really good, hes not a bad player, especially this year, he simply has bad contract, but he ain't awful. Bulls is a team that kinda a bad fit for anyone these days, not very talented, no one there plays good defense, lots of good players would look the same in Lavine's shoes, he is putting stats and thats all you can ask from him now.

This. He is a passable man defender and an awful team defender. He looks worse with Vuc backing him up. He is pretty elite 3 level scorer. Should not initiate offense. Sloppy handles for that role. He has value. Orlando or Denver would be good.

- The Warriors need scoring punch and can surround him with defenders and playmakers.
- In Houston, he could be a better Jalen Green.
- The Magic.

GS doesn't have the defense to make LaVine work, especially after trading away the guys they'd have to move to match salaries.
Houston can't really trade Green this season due to his extension.
Orlando would have to move on from KCP very quickly, which doesn't look good.

At some point you need a guy who will actually pass the ball.
As stated, the problem is he makes about three times what he is worth to a contender so nobody can afford him that could use him. Like about half the other guys in the league.

I'm not envisioning trade scenarios, I'm responding to OP's question of where can Lavine thrive.
I think Golden State absolutely has "the defense to make Lavine work". They're a top 6 defense and have a plethora of defensive-first players in: Draymond, Looney, SloMo, Wiggins, and Payton.SloMo and Payton are currently on the fringes of the rotation because Golden State has too much defense and not enough offense. Now, they've already made a defense (Melton) for offense (Schroder) trade, that we haven't seen the results of yet. I don't see a particularly workable trade though, because you'd probably have to start with Wiggins' salary and include another player currently in the rotation (SloMo or ironically: Schroder). But anyways yeah, I wasn't talking about this with an actual trade in mind.
- I wasn't proposing trading Green for Lavine, I was just pointing out that they play similar offensive roles but Lavine is doing it with actual scoring efficiency where Green is a net negative in that role.
- KCP's shot is bound to bounce back. He's shot 39% over his last 7 seasons. You don't drop to a 29% shooter over night. He'll probably have a random month where he's on fire. I don't think KCP needs to be prioritized in any way for the Magic though. He's in his 30s and on a mid-size salary. They'd love for him to be actually helping them, but I don't think he's their special boy prized free agent. If they saw another move they liked, KCP isn't going to be a huge priority for them, imo.
