OKC/BKN - Cam Johnson

Post#1 » by Devilanche » Sat Dec 28, 2024 3:55 am

An idea from the OKC board.
BKN
Cam Johnson -22.5m

OKC trade in mid January when Joe is tradable
Ousmane Dieng -5m
Isaiah Joe -12.9m
2025 OKC/HOU/LAC first
2027 OKC /Denver first (lower)

Reason

BKN - 2 first, one pick in the high teens and another late 20s. You can still space floor with Joe and flip him down the line.

OKC . Cam space the floor, is another big we can play and help us with some size.

2025 first round draft pick from Houston or L.A. Clippers (Oklahoma City outgoing to Houston, L.A. Clippers or Brooklyn)
Oklahoma City has the right to swap its 2025 1st round pick for Houston's 2025 1st round pick protected for selections 1-10 or the L.A. Clippers' 2025 1st round pick;

It's a solid offer, but I could see a team beating it either by adding a young player that would be desirable to the Nets, sending back no future money or both.

The longer term salary OKC would need to send back is likely not appealing to Brooklyn. Replacing Dieng with Wallace or Topic, or replacing one of the picks you mentioned with the best of OKC's '25 or '26 picks would probably be enough to close the deal. The Nets are going to want one key high value piece coming back in a CamJ deal.

2 FRP and Joe, while taking a flyer on Dieng is not getting beat by another team IMO.

OKC can make this happen if they wish. CJ is playing lights out this year but EOD he is like going back to PHX CJ usage in OKC.

Yeah this feels like an instant accept for Brooklyn.

Not sure it’s worth it for OKC.

As picks I would offer:

Utah 2025
Miami 2025
If necessary to seal the deal: Sixers 2025

Why? LAC is unprotected, wouldn‘t offer that. Also we can‘t add many players in the summer of 2025, so I would rather offer these picks than those from 2027 or later.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Thought I was already generous with the selection of first but yea if Brooklyn wants one high valued asset back it’s probably another trade for either that high rated rookie scale player or a singular higher upside first.

Not going add topic and definitely nor Cason.

I think the Nets would want a better prospect here. Who could possibly be included to make it more enticing to them?

I don't see any team beating the o.p.'s offer. I'm very skeptical that it would be turned down if it was actually made.

Does Dieng offer anything different from Clowney?
OKC is in a roster bind. Many young players, potentially 5 FRPs this year.
Which is if greater value to keep - the youth (Topic, Wallace, Dieng) or the picks?

Yeah, I agree this is a very strong offer which I can only see another team beating if they offer a much better pick (lottery) or a young player the Nets love. But this is about as high as the Thunder should go.

Agreed with the responses so far, I am not a big Joe fan but this is a strong offer overall for Brooklyn, IMO we would accept.

My preference on an OKC package for Johnson is Kenrich/Dieng/Topic.

BKN should take that and high tail run. This would be a great offer for them

Presti has shown the last few offseasons he is willing/able to delay firsts. Even doing a few deals most might feel as overpays..

I think Dieng would be widely available, but he’s also still so young and if he does develop - he plays the role the team still really needs. So shouldn’t just be thrown away?

The two guards.. I think Presti will hold on to both. Cason is already a really good player and could develop into the ideal starter, or you just keep him for the role he plays now. And Topic.. OKC fans have him readily available, but I think Presti can afford to sit on him just in case his game does translate well to the NBA.

But even if Presti does like Boston did a handful of years ago and sits on one too many of their prospects… They will still be able to make that same mistake in 3-4 years with the picks they own.

Grizz can build an offer around Santi, with Luke/Konchar/26 1st/28 1st.

I feel like Memphis slow played DFS trade talks, because they are working on a bigger trade. Maybe Jimmy, maybe Ingram, who knows. But my hunch is they're out of the Cam Johnson pursuit.

Anyway, for Brooklyn's sake, I would prefer OKC's trade package for Cam J over this suggested one.

2 firsts plus Santi Aldama? Another great offer. Honestly it's getting to the point where I feel Cam is being overrated.

Consider the source here, but I think OP has it pretty close if this is true.

Though I’d personally rather put in Jones than Dieng. And I’d add the Philly 1st instead for this year.

If Joe was in such a deal, I think that Brooklyn would view him as a long term ancillary piece. He is only 25 and his contract is good long term money while being a great spacer for any developing talents that Brooklyn are able to draft.

It would also he nice to see Dieng get some actual run, seeing as OKC's development outpaced his own as someone who was clearly a major project as a prospect.
