Coby White and Patrick Williams to MIN
Stealing the bones of Chuck's idea.
MIN trades: Julius Randle, Rob Dillingham, 2025 DET 1st (1-13, 1-11, 1-9, otherwise 2027 DET 2nd)
CHI trades: Coby White, Patrick Williams, Delan Terry, 2nd(s)?
Why MIN does it: Randle is basically a loss at this point. Here they are able to flip him for a 4/3 who can fit into their rotation even if he isn't great & they swap Dillingham for White. This trade is excellent from a financial standpoint, White is locked in next season on a BARGAIN contract and his contract expiration coincides with Conley's, so it is likely a net neutral at that point because the capsheet is balanced for his raise. Williams is spectacularly average, but he is locked in as the cap rises, and while I don't love the contract this season, it is going to be a near MLE-level deal starting next season (which seems close to correct).
Why CHI does it: Randle is mostly immaterial here (but see later), he has no trade value, no one wants him, not even Minnesota. This is White for Dillingham (better player for a younger player) and Williams for a first (which is only possible by assuming the risk of Randle opting in). This is a rebuilding package, but there is maybe some upside that Randle looks better for them and they can flip him in the offseason if he opts in. Perhaps there is a third team that can kick in expiring(s) for Randle [one thought is Randle and the first get re-routed to New Orleans for Ingram].

The Bulls don't need a crystal ball to see Randle opting in and they don't like that sight. No point to just getting younger with Dillingham when they're still looking to trade Lavine which instantly means not as good as White or not he has to play. Nobody's giving a pick for Williams, for the same reason posters here downplay his value, no he isn't scoring enough but right now with Lonzo Ball he's their best defensive player on a team that is coming up short on defense.

Feel like this assigns no value to Randle. Which seems it might be the case? But I think some team would likely pay something..
Chicago still hasn’t actually committed to a tank, so why not bring in another regular season floor raiser?
I like it for both sides.

The Pat Williams contract is looking pretty awful and Terry has negative value. I think there could be a Wolves-Bulls deal that sent Randle to Chicago, but this is not it.

yeah my problem here is jay's issue. Randle's value just goes poof it appears. Feels like the Wolves should get to keep the pick here. Randle has to be worth more than Williams and Dillingham is probably a pretty fair return for White, no? Wolves just balancing their lineup better and Chicago getting a future asset and more salary flexibility.
Without the first I kinda like this.

I don't think Randle has any value on his contract tbh. But I am curious how people feel about it without the pick.

With new CBA seem like teams are taking less chances on larger contracts. Hard seeing a team sending 30 millions in expiring for him.

I'd be concerned about never getting that first round-pick. Detroit's last five draft picks have been:
5
5
5
1
7
We already have a Portland pick that's unlikely to convey. I'd hate to have two of them.

Well, they look much improved this year and are clearly on a positive trajectory. I think there is a chance it does not convey, but the odds of it conveying are much greater than 50/50.

Re: Coby White and Patrick Williams to MIN
I think I would do the original deal for the Bulls, I don't mind taking on Randle, and getting a first and Dillingham seems well worth trading White - Who Chicago should probably try to move while he is still on a team friendly deal with 1½ years left. For Minnesota I feel they give up a lot without getting enough back, so I would not do it.
I wonder if an option could be to include a third team where Randle could perhaps fit better? San Antonio could be an option:
SAS out: Barnes, K. Johnson, 2025 CHI 1st, SAS in: Randle, Terry
CHI out: White, Terry CHI in: K. Johnson, 2025 CHI 1st
MIN out: Randle; MIN in: White, Barnes
Minnesota replaces Randle with a more limited option in Barnes and gets a PG upgrade. Chicago gets its own 1st back and opens up optionality to further trade Lavine/Vuc and start the rebuild. San Antonio gets to pair Randle with Paul and Wemby to push for the play-in/playoff.
