Anywho
We’re just going to stick to perimeter stuff for counting.
Spoiler:
Going to add
SPDs - Secondary Perimeter defendings - This credits a player as the secondary or co-secondary perimeter defender for a possession
ESPDs - Effective secondary perimeter defendings - Infer this you can
ISPDs - Ineffective secondary perimeter defendings - Infer this you can
Let’s begin.
(2000 Utah vs Jazz)
Possession 1 - 10:12
Duncan is at the rim as the last line of defense, cheats forward, and gets backdoored.
Possession 2 - 13:18
Duncan gets to the basket before Malone and seals him off for Elliot to get the rebound. Primary rim guy again.
Possession 3 - 13:42
Just hanging by the rim.
Possession 4 - 14:32
Isn’t the guy at the backline with Malone waiting at the key.
Possession 5 - 15:16
With malone at the rim. Russell hits a jumper.
Possession 6 - 16:10
Something happens! Duncan is with Drob at the rim and then comes in to meet a drive. Fouls.
(Duncan -1 SPD, 1 ISPD)
Possession 7 - 17:10
Fast break. Duncan is able to avoid giving up an open layup but the big still gets decent position and scores on him eithe rway
Possession 8 - 17:51
2ndt time I can say duncan is not the primary rim-guy. He does however pick up an SPD forcing a jumper which he contests well. Jazz extend with two offensive rebounds. During which he prevents an entry, helps on both of the Jazz’s rebounders, and waves his hand at a ball-handler on the perimeter.
(Duncan - 2 SPD, 1 ESPD)
Possession 9 - 19:31
Duncan is caught cheating too far to the ball-handler and then fouls on a drive inside. Another possession he isn’t the rim guy.
Possession 10 - 23:30
Jazz get ball to Malone who faces Duncan on an island in the post with no one behind to cover. Malone looks to hit a cutter and then takes it out and spins for a jumper. Malone converts but Duncan stays connected and contests well.
(Duncan - 1 PPD, 1 EPPD)
Possession 11 - 24:00
The ball-handler is funneled to Duncan who ventures to the corner to help. Ball is thrown to the top of the key and a jumper is taken. Duncan secures a rebound with the assistance of a teammate sealing off malone.
(Duncan - 3 SPD, 2 ESPD)

(Duncan - 4 SPD, 2 ISPD)
Possession 14 - 25:49
Duncan helps on Stockton helping force a turnover when he blows by his original man.
(Duncan - 5 SPD, 3 ESPD)
Possession 15 - 26:30
Duncan checks Malone at the post.
(Duncan - 10 PP, 5 EPP, Robinson - 11 PP)
Possession 16 - 27:12
Russell magically screens Duncan with Duncan’s own teammate and hits a jumper.
(Duncan - 6 SPD, 3 ISPD)
Possession 17 - 28:00
Duncan covers when his teammate is blown by and then switches over to Malone at the key who throws it over to his teammate. I guess he can be a co-primary here.
(Duncan - 2 PPD, 2 EPPD)
Possession 18 - 28:21
Duncan turns it over and gets back too late to affect anything.
Possession 19 - 32:10
Duncan is at the rim before the frist utah rebound. Then he helps and gets a hand to the ball to help force a turnover with his teammate bodying the attacker. If there was tertiary perimeter defendings he’d be credited but there’s not.
Possession 20 - 32:50
Duncan shadows someone as they receive the ball in and then exit the paint and then is switched on. He isn’t in time to contest the shot and it goes in.
(Duncan - 3 PPD, 1 IPPD)
Possession 21 - 36:30
John Stockton inbounds it towards Utah’s basket and no one is there to catch.
Possession 22 - 37:36
Ball is thrown to Malone who posts on Duncan at the edge of the paint. Malone tries to toss it in but it goes off the rim and Duncan catches.
(Duncan - 7 SPD, 4 ESPD)
Possession 23 - 37:59
Duncan being there helps force an errant pass as the ball-handler redirects.
Possession 24 - 38:49
Duncan helps on Stockton but is faked the wrong way with a pass-fake and lets a cutter get an easy 2.
(Duncan - 8 SPD, 4 ISPD)
Possession 25 - 39:10
Duncan is one of two defenders to meet Stockton on the fastbreak and after he threads the needle to a teammate Duncan goes up to prevent a layup and force a pass to Lewis who goes for a jumper and misses.
(Duncan - 4 PPD, 3 EPPD)
Possession 26 - 43:57
Duncan waits at the rim and the ball is forced out of bounds.
Possession 27 - 51;03
(Duncan comes back) Duncan’s the primary rim-protector again. His teammate forces a turnover.

Possession 37 - 101:20
Jeff Horneack brings it forward and Duncan helps from behind to force the ball out of bounds.
(Duncan - 13 SPD, 6 ESPD)
Possession 38 - 1:02:50
Meets Stockton after he gets by his man and follows him to the baseline pressuring Stockton into a turnover. He can get a co-primary here I think. He spends a comparable amount of time guarding him as the initial defender.
(Duncan - 5 PPD, 4 EPPD)
Possession 39 - 1:06:40
Duncan waits at the rim and helps as Stockton goes baseline.
Possession 40 - 1:07:20
Chases a fastbreak that ends early. Hands at the rim on the inbound.
