Smart words from Curry.
Steph Curry said that he doesn't want the Golden State Warriors to make desperate trades and mortgage the future at the upcoming trade deadline.
"Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future, there is a responsibility on allowing or keeping the franchise in a good space and good spot when it comes to where we leave this thing when we're done.
"Doesn't mean that you're not trying to get better ... nobody wants to be stale or be in a situation where you're passing up opportunities. But it doesn't mean that you're desperate just flinging assets all around the place just because you want to do something," said Curry.
The Warriors are reportedly no longer in Jimmy Butler trade discussions and are instead linked with Nikola Vucevic.
Curry reiterated that while he and Draymond Green continue to get older, he doesn't want the team to make a panic trade.
"While we understand we're getting older and deeper into our careers and allowing some of the young guys to kind of blossom, it doesn't mean you're getting desperate," added Curry.
Steve Kerr said earlier in January that the team is taking its time to assess the roster before making any deals.

Why would we be interested in Vucevic if we're not willing to go all in. This front office is clueless. We literally traded 2nd rd picks to tank.

Re: Smart words from Curry.
If the what's best for the franchise is the focus...then trading Curry NOW is the right move. Let him go somewhere else to try and get a 5th. Take the draft picks and/or young talent and start the rebuild...NOW.
Because....next year he AND Draymond will be another year older....and Curry is already having what appears to be a chronic knee and Draymond is having back issues.
Lacob, do the right thing for the long term and fans will again believe you are light years ahead of the others.

Hope everyone is going to enjoy being mid. Seems like everyone in the organization is fine with it.

Re: Smart words from Curry.
Folks taking way too much stuff at face value.
You got the season going off the rails and people putting out “they owe it to Steph” to compete pieces. If you’re an opposing team, wouldn’t you look at GS as desperate and be trying to squeeze them for everything possible over the next 3 weeks?
For example, if you’re the Bulls, you trying to settle for a couple 2nds from a desperate team closing on deadline, or you trying to get a first?
Steph, Dray and Kerr’s comments are just posturing to make it look like the Warriors aren’t desperate to make moves (even though they probably are) so they don’t get bent over in trade.

Re: Smart words from Curry.
Steph, once again, is the adult in the room.
Losing isn't fun, but these guys are making mega-buck and living nice lives at the very end of their careers. I love that Steph understands that the team is bigger than the individuals, and that needs to be front and centre from here on in. Teams don't want us back at the top, they want us to remain where we are or worse, so are looking to wipe our next timeline from us after Steph and Dray. I hope MDJ and Lacob hold their nerve and not give in to the short-term thinking of the emotional fans, and start planning for after Steph's retirement shortly.

Re: Smart words from Curry.
The Warriors are acting like a Championship or bust team and i'm okay with it.
All us fans want us to see Curry's last seasons being competitive in the playoffs, but does Steph really care about being a 1st or 2nd round exit team? Doesn't seem like it. Championship or bust. If the Warriors arent a Championship roster than oh well. I hope Warriors try and tank the rest of the season and gain a nice draft pick. I'll be okay with it.

He is a class act with his actions reflecting that over and over. So tired of watching players signing huge contracts, sucking up the cap then demanding the team do something to appease them with the state of the roster.
Basketball is one of the toughest professional sports to turn the tide on a mediocre roster. The Warriors are at least a couple pieces away from being relevant. Best thing that can happen this year is develop the kids and move up in the lottery.

Re: Smart words from Curry.
It's actually really odd that Kerr, Curry, Draymond are all on the same page of not wanting to mortgage the future while supposedly being some of the most competitive people.

He’s basically saying Vucevic is trash and Butler is a diva, we shouldn’t trade for them. Smart man.

It was good while it lasted, I remember the dark ages as currently constructed it'll be interesting seeing the young guys take strides.

Re: Smart words from Curry.
When Kerr gets on the mic after every loss, its about how he needs to do better, things will change, blah blah blah. And then nothing changes
So when he goes out and says they aren't going to do anything.. why are people so pressed? He almost always does the opposite of what he says anyways
That said, I truly hope they arent considering making a move for no reason. The current ideas being floated around are just flat out not good.. desperate wild swinging

Our window to do anything impactful shut last summer.
Our ONLY hopes of anything meaningful at this point are to stealth tank or blow it up.
Unfortunately we are going to do nothing, be mid for 3 years until Steph retires, and then be mid for another 5+.
Also I don't know why everyone is acting like Steph is just on his way out the door as soon as this contract ends. He's still playing at an MVP level. He also has a game that will age incredibly gracefully. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still in the league 5 years from now.

I say get that 60M Steph 4th year extension done. When is he eligible again?
We need to tie him up NOW before he just walks on us. Obviously Steve will also need to be extended early (on league leading money) because he and Steph are tied at the hip.
I wouldn't be surprised.
