What would have been better offers for Doncic?

Post#1 » by jowglenn » Sun Feb 2, 2025 6:14 am

I am curious to know. Surely OKC would have done Holmgren & every single pick, right? Surely Houston would have done Thompson & every single pick right? And more?

Did Dallas even call other teams? What would your team have offered? I recall last year saying I'd trade literally everyone on the Pacers for Luka...

I think this might just be rubbing salt in the wound, tbh, though I am morbidly curious, too. I know what *I* would offer.

Would Luka have left wherever he was traded to go to LAL? If that was the case then the trade would not have returned full value.

I don't mean to rub salt in Mavs fans' wounds, I don't think salt matters at this point... that's like rubbing salt onto the neck of someone who's been decapitated. I don't think they'll feel it.

Doncic likely said he wanted to go to Lakers in 2026 offseason.

That's only way it makes sense. Please remember that context when you put in bids for his services.

Could be worse Mavs fans, at least you didn’t draft Ayton over Luka

First off, you have to salary match. Second, the Mavs were clearly interested in the best win-now piece they could get. Third, he was a flight risk.

Luka (averaging 28/8)
For
LaMelo (averaging 28/7)
Our upcoming lotto pick and like 4 other 1sts

Those picks alone could easily get you AD the second the Lakers decide it's over (probably this offseason)

I mean, if I’m wolves I’m sending Edward’s straight to airport.

I did laugh, hopefully a sad mavs fan also gets a laugh about this quote.

Well, if I were the Jazz,

Taylor Hendricks, Keyonte George, Isaiah Collier, Brice Sensabaugh, Walker Kessler, filler
2025 1sts (UTA + MIN)
2026 swap
2027 1sts (higher two of UTA/MIN/CLE + LAL 1st 1-4 protected)
2028 swap
2029 1sts (highest two conveyed of UTA/CLE/MIN unless MIN falls in its protected range, then highest 2029 1st of UTA/CLE)
2030 swap
2031 1sts (UTA and PHX)

So, 8-9 1sts + all the prospects we have + 3 swap options.

Maybe, Luka's still a flight risk and takes up 10% more of the cap than Edwards on a Supermax. You're talking about a team that traded KAT due to tax issues.

Easily a better offer then the real one. I'm still baffled beyond belief by the real trade and how somehow DAL only got 1 pick.

I mean, who wouldn't be available? Wemby, Jokic, SGA, maybe Giannis... They should flip Davis to young players + Picks while at it.

Would be fun to see LeBron with curry after this.. if your lakers you got 25 year old to build around, no rush.. collect draft assets and clear cap space because they getting whoever they want in FA now. Unbelievable
