However, in my opinion, it suggests that Anthony Davis HAD to have known about the deal before it finalized. The Mavericks ducked the luxury tax only because he agreed to waive his trade kicker. Dallas would have been even dumber than they already are, to agree to this deal without at least confirming that.
Add on the fact that AD was complaining in the media about the Lakers needing to get a C so he could play PF, and this starts to make more sense. I don't know how Unibrow got so much pull, but it seems he steered the ship here.
My thoughts exactly. If AD was surprised and possibly upset about the trade, there is no way he would waive this. He had to have known the possibility of the trade before it happened. If AD knew, it's possible he might have told Paul not to let Lebron know since Lebron obviously wouldn't be down with such a trade if he found out.
